I bought this for my wife for her business as a light weight, mobile computer. It is not a desktop replacement if you do any type of number-crunching or need multiple applications running simultaneously.

I was concerned about the small screen, but it does the job. Overall, the laptop is sturdy. The keyboard is a bit smaller, but not cramped.

Although I thought she would use the laptop as a tablet (like my IPad), she has never used it by folding over the keyboard. This is a feature that I thought she would use a lot, but hasn't so far.

The only problem with the laptop is that the touchpad is occasionally unresponsive. It works about 99% of the time for me. My wife has more issues with it. After some research it seems that this may not not be a design/software issue, but apparently some people's hands are dryer than others and this affects how touchpads respond. One solution I found from online research is to cover the touchpad with a phone screen protector - I haven't tried it yet, but plan to. Others have had success doing this.

Having a touchscreen and touchpad changes how you work. I've noticed that my wife frequently switches between the touchpad and touchscreen while working, using whichever seems more natural.

Another issue I've had is getting the Skype App to load. Skype Desktop version works fine. This is likely a Windows-Skype compatibility issue.

Pros:
Thin and lightweight
Holds a good charge (7 hours)
Responsive touch screen
500 GB Hard drive
4GB RAM
Packs a lot of features for the price
Bottom of laptop gets warm during use, but not hot.

Cons:
Touchpad (see solution above)
No ethernet port
Slower bootup than an IPad

Overall:
Very happy with the laptop.
Would definitely recommend to a friend.
Great price for the features.

Verified Purchase
Just like any college student im pretty broke at the moment I need a laptop under 500$. So I came along the Dell Inspirion 11 3000. At first I thought great just another dell computer, but trust me, here me out!

Performance: Two chip selections available the Pentium processor and the i3 processor. Either of these will pass your expectations, I personally chose the i3 series. Because I needed to do some Photoshop and some video editing as well as word, netflix and internet browsing. The i3 chip wonderfully completed all these tasks, I barely noticed any lag. This laptop can pretty much do everything even minor gaming. The Pentium quad core processor is slightly less powerful but nonetheless it can handle the everyday laptop stuff. It can do must things the i3 version can do but might be lil bit slower.

Design/Display: The design looks really good, I was expecting something really tacky because of the sub 500$ price. But the outside looks sleek, modern and so nice. Its made from plastic/aluminum, the laptop gives you a macbook air feel. The display is quite good as well HD 720p great for the average user, its also an IPS meaning you can view a high quality screen on any angle.

Battery/Keyboard & Touchpad: The keyboard is so good, it feels like a good quality laptop keyboard. But the only flaw is it flexes inside a bit but barely noticeable. The battery is one of the best in the market. It lasts me around 8-7 hours with moderate to heavy use, that is awesome considering the price point! The only real issue I have is the trackpad, its a bit rough not so smooth. The trackpad isnt the best but you get used to it.

Overall: Im so happy with my purchase, and trust me you will to if your expectations are the same. A quality laptop with a sub 500$ price.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I'm really glad more manufacturers are getting on the 2-in-1 bandwagon, because it makes Windows 8 much, much more bearable. Touch screens are just awkward when a laptop is in its "regular" position, but when you're able to fold it back, use it in "tent"or "tablet" mode, NOW you're talking!

This Dell i3 laptop I received showed up in a pretty barebones box. The packaging really isn't great. Egg-shell-like carton holds the laptop in place, and I was prepared for the worst. I needn't have worried.

I pulled the laptop out, powered it on, and was greeted to a quiet, solid little machine - with a few fun surprises for the money involved.

First things first: Setup is a very simple affair. There's not much bloatware at all on this system, so those used to having to uninstall 400 programs after first boot will be much happier. Windows 8 is... well... Windows 8 (8.1 in this case). I recommend downloading the simple application called "Classic Shell" to get your regular Start menu back, and then it's just like Windows 7, with the added benefit of touch-screen usage should you need it.

Anyway, let's start with the good!

1.) Decent IPS multi-touch screen. Not the absolute highest quality, but it's a decent enough screen, and it's great to see IPS displays coming down to the lower end of the laptop spectrum. I hope someday soon that TN panels will go away completely. IPS panels are what's in the iPads etc, and while the iPad displays are of higher quality (and resolution), it's the right direction to go. The display is 1366x768, which is "fine" for this size screen, though higher would always have been nice.
2.) The hinges feel very solid. No slop or wobbliness to them.
3.
