I am very happy with the power, keyboard and screen resolution of this laptop. It is slim and elegant, and looks substantially lighter than its 5.5 lbs. Very good value for money (I paid less than $600). I invested many hours into researching before I purchased it. It will be a workhorse for me for some years to come. Rapid shipping. Appreciate that Dell doesn't use bloatware.

i5 processor is very fast. Sleek design and abundant hard drive memory. Touchpad is a very important quality when I purchase a laptop because I hate having to use a mouse with a laptop. This Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series i5547-7475sLV's touchpad is very responsive. I have used many different laptops and have talked with many friends and touchpad non-responsiveness is a major and common problem. As far as my experience, that is not an issue with Dell laptops. The last laptop I owned was a Dell Latitude and its touchpad was very high quality. This one also does not disappoint. It's been one month and I am very happy with my purchase. This laptop has superb quality.

Great affordable PC for work

Almost everything is perfect. Great processor, affordable price, very responsive and a lot of storage. I bought this PC a few weeks from now and I have nothing to be mad about. However, it would be better with a SSD, but that would mean less storage. Even though, Dell made it pretty easy to change the HDD so for a couple bucks you can upgrade to SDD!
This is my main PC and I love it. Also, @DellCare in Twitter are the best Customer Support team ever! Go ahead and buy this! :)

Fanatstic computer for the price.

I needed a new laptop that will work for school. I am pursuing an engineering degree and needed something that could potentially run cad software and the processor and ram size seem to fit. So far, I haven't run the cad software yet but was able to run Minecraft at high res while running a voice call over Skype.
The battery life is terrific. I was running solely a Skype voice call for a little over 5 hours from a full battery to 10% which is plenty long enough for me. Day-to-day tasks last longer but this isn't my primary computer so I don't have any other reference than the Skype call.
The speakers are terrible. I was really hoping for better speakers or at least some that will work but these have a terrible humming and buzzing when watching tv shows. The screen isn't as great as I thought it would be but it is sufficient for movies just don't expect a high resolution picture.
But so far I absolutely love this computer. I love the keyboard, the finish on the typing surface, the aluminum outer finish, all of it. Great computer for a terrific price.

The computer is fast. The trackpad came broken.

As other reviewers have noted, this is a fast computer, and for me it has been a huge upgrade over my older Acer desktop running Intel Pentium CPUs. This one comes with Intel i5, which is a fantastic processor. The touchscreen works really well, which is nice, however, for me, it has come with a huge trade-off as the trackpad did not work correctly out of the box. It works for a while after starting/restarting the computer, but soon starts to act very buggy to the point where it becomes unusable. Turning off the gestures which are enabled by default improves this problem but doesn't eliminate it. Updating and reinstalling the driver software didn't help. Unfortunately for me, I prefer to use the touchpad more often than the touchscreen, so this is a bad trade-off to have to make.

I like the display and the big screen, but this comes with another trade-off, since the laptop is very heavy. I wouldn't recommend this computer to somebody who wants to use it on the go a lot. I'm actually going to get an HDMI-DVI converter and use this computer as a replacement for my older Desktop which needs replacing anyways. It's definitely got the speed, RAM, and drive space to compete with most desktop computers currently on the market.

Even though I'm happy to have a computer with this much speed and memory I would not buy this product again since there are many other fine computers on the market that I'm assuming have fully functional trackpads and are lightweight enough to comfortably carry around. This particular computer will replace my desktop probably for the next 2-3 years and I will shop around for a better laptop.
