Video Examination and Three Aspect Breakdown

I traveled domestically and internationally as a teen... then I had a Navy career. Airline travel and Naval Warship deployments, so I have run the gamut of travel conditions and bags. My personal criteria are a) durability (which includes stitching quality), b) pocket size/placement (having too few or even too many can be a hassle), and c) carrying comfort and versatility (casual versus formal).

A) Durability - the stitching isn't pristine in terms of finishing, having cut quite a few dangling threads and minor tufts, but all the lines are straight and at the necessary stress points. Zippers and the two magnet clasps on the front pockets are smooth action, the two button claps on the main closure quite firm. Cross body strap is a heavy cotton strap, and is NON-REMOVABLE. So adding a shoulder cushion will have to be one of those wrap around styles. Exterior PU leather accent is decent, but a touch of stickiness is present (I live in a high humidity region, so this is one of those qualities I can quickly tell - how well will the PU react to humid conditions). Top handle is very secure with dual grommets on each side.

Interior is a pressed cotton fiber, and no, it will not "tear". Think dryer sheets, but thicker and smoother feeling. All interior pockets are of the same cotton fiber - I really love that center divider pocket... which leads me to...

b) Pocket Placement / Sizing: Not that many total pockets, but having traveled with bags on that "too many, too useless" pocket scale, this does hit a nice balance. The interior divider pocket is bang on for 10.1" tablets or smaller, even with a thick case. The other interior pockets include two open ones and a zippered one that will hold a 5.5" smartphone.Read more ›

Really nice!

I received this from the manufacturer for review purposes. I wasn't really sure what to expect because these bags can be hits or misses but I was pleasantly surprised.

The bag is about 16" wide and 14" high empty. You can carry this with either the handle or the shoulder strap. It's closed by a single flap with two snap buttons but once you open it, the inner compartment is protected by a zipper. I have a problem with this zipper, it's 5" too long on one end and doesn't fully close on the end other, being short about 1". I wonder if this is a quality control problem or a bad design.

Compartments: There are 2 snap button pockets on the front and a zipped one in the back. Inside the bag, it's divided into two compartments with the divider itself being another zipped compartment. There are 3 pockets in the front compartments and yet another zipped one in the back, meaning that you can fit a lot of different things inside. As per the description, you can fit a 14" laptop inside, maybe even 2.

But what I really like are the materials. The canvas is thick and has a heavy weave. The leather, though only synthetic, is thick and feels very nice. It has a nice pressed pattern, color and thick stitching. It looks like something that famous archeologist would take on his adventures to look for treasure.

At the time of my review, there is no price listed but it's definitely an eye catching and functional messenger bag.

Desert Wolf: Canvas Messenger Bag: A First Look

The Messenger Bag is, in one word, elegant.

This is a two-tone, tan canvas body with a brown vinyl cover and trim.

The front has two large pouches that have a snap closure.

The large center pocket has room for a standard 15” notebook. The front pouches are big enough for a mixer bottle or even a “selfie stick”/ monopod.

The bags shoulder strap is broad but it’s missing that soft padding that cushions the strap on the shoulder. If you’re carrying a lot of books or heavy materials, without this padding the weight can become uncomfortable.

This is a beautiful bag and with just a little adjustment, this would be perfect.

Really well-made and capacious

This is a really capacious and good looking messenger bag! My husband is using it to carry his laptop, books, phone and lunch to his dental lab and he really loves how functional and well-designed it is. Plus, it's just perfect for a student / professor - the semi-casual, semi-professional look is a great balance!

There are enough zipper compartments, snap compartments and open dividers to conveniently and safely store all your belongings. The main compartment is just the perfect size for my husband's 14'' MacBook Pro, and still he has enough space to slide his iPad Air, phone, wallet, keys, notes and whatever else he has to bring to the lab with him. He says he loves everything about this bag except for its smell - it does smell a bit off-putting and my guess is it's the PU leather. In some cases the PU leather smell will go away after a while, but not in this particular case. It's been approximately 3 months since we received this bag, and it still smells pretty strong.

As long as you don't mind the PU leather smell, you will love using this bag for traveling or going to work. It's super convenient, very capacious, well-made and cool looking (love the vintage feel!). The adjustable strap is wide enough for you to be able to carry considerable weight in your bag without having the strap dig into your shoulder.

Overall this is a fantastic bag. Complimentary review sample was provided in exchange for my unbiased review.
