External cooler is bulky but good, really needs ENGLISH instructions (but easy enough to figure out)

Box arrived... It's in Chinese and Chinglish. Opened it up and the 4 neoprene "collars" are just stuffed on top. The actual cooler itself seems to be nicely constructed but a bit bigger than imagined. What's really ANNOYING is there are NO ENGLISH INSTRUCTIONS. The only sheet of instructions is in CHINESE. As I happen to be able to **read** Chinese this is not a problem for me, and the parts are obvious enough that instructions are probably not needed, it's still rather annoying to see the seller basically made no attempt to make the item more palatable for Western markets.

In case people need it, here's the instructions.

1) Please install one of the four "collars" onto the intake port of the device. Choose one that will best fit your laptop or notebook based on the angle of its exhaust port.

2) Mount the "hold tab" (black piece of flat plastic) onto the bottom of the device. It should just snap in.

3) Place your laptop/notebook on a flat surface and try to align the exhaust port and the device's intake, achieving a tight fit with the collar. The "tab" should reach comfortably under the laptop.

OPTIONAL) If this is going to be semi-permanent, note the position, then remove the adhesive back and adhere the tab to the laptop's bottom, so the device is now attached to the laptop. In the future, you can detach the device from the tab for travel.

4) Connect the device power with the included USB to 5V cable by inserting the round end onto the unit's side, and the other end to any available powered USB port

5) Use the control twist knob to control the fan speed, from shutoff to full power.Read more ›

I found this a very unique and compact laptop cooling fan for gamers like me

I have an old laptop which needs to be replaced, but I can't afford that for a few months now. My laptop gets heated a lot due to gaming. This laptop cooling fan looked completely different than the ones which are like a cooling pad. This one attaches like a usb, it covers the outlet of my laptop and cools it.
It came with 4 blue attachments made of rubber and we can choose the one which best fits the laptop.
It also has a stick tab which sticks beneath the laptop to keep the fan in place. All you need to do is connect the fan in a usb outlet with a cord and rotate the knob for the desired fan speed of cooling.
The only problem I found was that it came with no instruction booklet or manual. I know its pretty simple to figure out how to switch this on but a manual would be helpful.
I found this a very unique and compact laptop cooling fan for gamers like me and is really nice for this price! It really cools the laptop and my old laptop is functioning much better now!

Definitely a great cooling fan

Saved me $200! But plug it into a USB power adapter rather than using a laptop USB port.

This little fan saved me a couple hundred dollars by not having to replace the internal fan on my laptop. I don't think the internal fan even comes on anymore because the portable fan works so efficiently. One word of advice: although you can plug the fab into an open USB port for power, you're better off to save that port and just plug the fan into a cheap USB power adapter. When I left my fan plugged into a USB port, the laptop got confused and tried to boot up from that port and consequently wouldn't start. This may be just my old laptop, though.

Great vacuum!

For months my laptop was over heating. I was using cans of compressed gas to keep the fan spinning. Then it just quit working. I was quoted $125. to replace the fan. I found this vacuum and thought I'd give it a try. Although it's bulky it did the trick. My laptop is working great. The fan can be adjusted so I keep it at the lowest speed because it's a strong fan and a bit loud. But that really is no problem. $15.00 is a bargain.

Great Working Fan BUT Needs to Improve Sticky Tab So It Will Stick Onto Laptop Better

We have an old laptop that overheats very easily. I already have it sitting on a regular laptop fan but it seems like, depending on what we are doing, the laptop needs a little extra cooling. I ordered this cooling fan because, honestly, it looked very different than a normal cooling fan that I am used to. It arrived fast and included an extra sticky strip and 4 different sized silicon sleeves. I have seen others complain about the instructions being in Chinese or broken English but mine was not and I had no problem reading it. Maybe they updated it.

The sticky strip is to go on the the plate that attaches to the fan by snapping on it. This will then slide under the side of your laptop and you can stick it onto the bottom if you want it to stay there. Hubs came home and before I could realize what he was doing, he snapped the fan off of the side of the laptop to see what it was and basically ruined the stickiness of the stick. It does not hold well at all. I have to prop it up now using random items around the house for it to work & this causes it not to stay close enough to get a great suction.

It is a bit bulky and I had to rearrange my desk to fit it onto the side of the laptop. There is a small knob that you twist for on/off & speed. High is a bit noisy but it didn't bother us.

Despite the small problems I had mentioned about the stickiness & suction, it DOES cool off our fan just as well as our regular fan does. You can feel the warm air blowing out of the side. I tested this fan out by itself without our regular laptop fan on and it kept it cool. I will add the old fan back underneath the laptop to run them together to see if it will keep it even cooler, especially when we are gaming it up. I did receive this fan in exchange for our honest opinion.
