Fit Perfectly

This keyboard fit my friend's laptop perfectly. It was always one of the easiest keyboard swaps I've done on a laptop in a long time. There's a nice video outlining the details on YouTube. Basically you remove a few screws under the battery. Pop the out the old keyboard and install the new one.

Good Keyboard

The keyboard works great, but on delivery, it was bent a little and some of the keys could not be fix back into place. I manage to try to straighten it myself and manage to put it back into my laptop. I don't blame the company that sent it, I give them 5 stars for it. But it was shipped on the 24th of December so that might be way it was all bent up and stuff.

Third-Party Price, Brand Name Quality

I was a bit hesitant when replacing my ruined HP keyboard with a third party (non-HP) product, but I decided to give the Eathtek laptop keyboard a try. The keyboard comes in a small sleeve with a brief installation insert. The installation instructions were straightforward and generic. The keyboard screws are not in the exact same place for all HP keyboards, and it would be unreasonable to expect separate instructions for each model. However, the layout is close enough that these instructions would be sufficient for most. However, there are numerous videos and step-by-step instructions online that you can find with simple keyword searches.

Installation was a breeze using the attached keyboard cable. The only tool you would need, which is NOT included, would be something to pry the keyboard tabs. As mentioned, this is not included, but you can probably find many tools around the house to pry the tabs. The keyboard clipped perfectly with no problems fitting.

The true test was using the keyboard. I was concerned with two potential issues: 1) that it did not work and 2) that the keys did not press the way I wanted them to (i.e., it had a different feel than my original keyboard). I started my computer and was able to type immediately. The keys, including the function keys, all worked as expected. Just like with the original keyboard, the caps lock button and the wifi button both have lights that work.

Concerning typing, the keys were soft and pressed easily. My older keyboard was a bit worn out after lots of typing, so this was a welcome improvement. They press just like a brand new keyboard would. There is nothing about this keyboard that could identify it as a third-party accessory or item, yet it is significantly cheaper.

I would not expect anyone to need a special driver, but I was using Windows 8.

Poor Quality

Poor quality replacement. received the keyboard and several keys had fallen off in the packaging.The keys dont snap back on very well,and keep falling off. The space bar doesnt work very well, and only responds to firm pushes in the center of the bar. In addition, there is no text printed on the number 1 key. I guess you get what you pay for with this keyboard
