It works great with my WD 320gig notebook drive. I only need to plug in 1 of the usb cables for enough power. The only complaint I have is the little tiny screws.

I needed an enclosure for my old 60 GB PS3 hard drive that I'd replaced. This did the job well. I also like the fact that it includes a screwdriver of the right size, ensuring you can use this right out of the box.

Does the job that it needs to do. Not overdesigned, not complicated. There are some models out there that appear less, cheesy and have a more refined look, but they are usually twice the price. This one does exactly what it needs to do, for a reasonable price.

My wife's Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 died and she was sure she had lost everything on her hard drive. I bought one of these little gems for $6.95 and got free Sunday delivery! (Yea, Prime!). So I installed her drive in the case, plugged it into my Windows XP Toshiba, not being quite sure what to expect. I was relieved to see it just come up as an "E" drive and work like any other external drive. This little guy made me an instant hero!
A true "You can't beat it for the money!" story.

I was using this to retrieve data off an old 500 GB hard drive. It would not work properly (showing something was connected to the computer but couldn't tell what it was). I continued to fiddle with it for about 2 weeks. I even tried using it on 2 different computers thinking maybe the USB on my computer was bad. Finally, I got it to work. It now connects to those two computers it refuse to work on. The USB it comes with is SUPER finicky. If the hard drive was bumped or moved a little it would often disconnect.

Pros- Works now after 2 weeks
Cons- The USB sucks

I purchased this to transfer data from a drive that was removed from my tablet. The OS on the drive was corrupt and would not boot, but as a USB device connected to my PC no issues. It also gave me the opportunity to reformat the drive before returning it to the manufacturer. There are many enclosures on the market. This was good bang for the buck, and has the capabilities of 2 USB connections to provided the additional power needed for larger drives. This one met my needs and is standing by for the next time I need it.

Pro: Works as advertised
Pro: Allows use of otherwise surplus drives
Cons: The mounting screws are really, really tiny (they need to be) and so difficult to fasten. I ended up screwing them into the black plastic adapter first to thread the hole, then removed them and mounted the adapter and re-inserted the screws into the now-threaded holes.

I ordered this case in hopes of trying to save some files from a Samsung Model HM320JI. It is a SATA 320GB 5400rpm drive. The drive came from a Dell laptop.
The case is well constructed and seems solid, so this is not a fault of the case.
However, this specific HDD has a plastic tab between the contacts that is shaped so that it will not fit into the case. This may be a problem with the HDD being built to Dell specifications so that you can’t use it in anything other than a Dell.
If you have this specific drive or any drive out of a Dell, be certain you do not have the same issue. Like I said, the plastic tab has a square hole in the middle of the tab.
