I have dell studio 14Z and love my laptop. It stopped charging the battery. I replaced the batter and the cord and nothing worked. This was my last resort before buying a new laptop. When I plugged it in initially nothing happened. There is a video with how to use it, but nothing worked the way it should. I noticed the charge indicator on the battery had one light so I left it over night. Next day batter is full charged. I boot up with the battery in and then connect the cord if needed. Thanks for a great product, one star because I had to fiddle to get it to work.

Works better than built-in charger

Seems to work well. My laptop built-in charger would indicate my battery as being fully charged but when run on it, the computer would shut down after only 30 minutes, and after plugging back the power cable, the charge indicator says the battery is 85% charged. However, after charging the battery just once, it's running over an hour and 15 minutes without the computer turning off. I'm sure after I cycle the battery a couple of more times with this external charger that the battery will run the computer for at least 2 hours. Great product!

I was having a bit of troubles in my battery charger due to old wear and tear of the charger in came with. I was looking for external chargers as a last bet and I was very skeptical if it was going to work or not. Fortunately it worked for mine! I have the Dell Inspiron 1545 and I charge it for about 1-2 hours [in a rush at times.] and my battery would work for about 3 hours. This is DEFINITELY worth the try, read your battery and laptop carefully so that you dont hassle on returning if the charger doesnt workout.

This is a great product, it exactly met my needs. The charging port on my Dell Inspiron 1525 stopped connecting to the charger reliably, and since I have 2 batteries this was the perfect solution - charge 1 battery while using the other, and it was way less expensive than having my Dell laptop charging port repaired. Works Fine For Charging, But The Plug To The Battery Is Loose And Cheap...

Like a lot of folks here, I bought this to replace the charging port on my Dell laptop that had stopped charging the battery. The old and familiar to many "plugged in, not charging" syndrome when you roll your mouse over the battery icon. It's only a matter of time before the batter drains and that is all she wrote. (Whether you use it off the battery or not). Not only is it a very familiar problem that Dell is aware of and too cheap to do anything about, but it's much more expensive to get the charging port replaced than one would imagine. In some cases maybe 3 times the cost of this charger that is a far better solution for many lap top owners...

As far as this fitting my older model Dell 1545, it works and charges the battery in a very short amount of time. Under three hours with my battery at less than 20% here left in it when I plugged it in. The operation of this is very simple and its definitely a better deal than paying for a new charging port to be installed. That being said, I do have one big complaint with this. Though the plug on it works on my battery, it fits very loosely. So loosely in fact that any touch of it while its charging sees it falling off. There is no tight fit at all and I have to be careful slipping it on and then just remembering not to disturb it so as to see it disconnect itself. Also, as I was trying to get the plug to fit tighter, a small piece of the plastic on it broke off. It's still working without it, but I was very careful trying to fit better or tighter and it shouldn't have happened. Though I am grateful for this being a working solution, I really expected something of much better quality in the plug than I got for the hefty price this thing cost.Read more ›
