Great to use on bed

I'm using it everyday and really love it.

This product does help a lot when I want to use my laptop on my bed. This kind of table is far better than a regular bed tray since it is angle adjustable and gives more space to my legs. Also, the aluminum alloy panel helps prevent the computer from getting too hot. There is space for the mouse too.

I recommend using it on bed or sofa, rather than putting it on the floor since increase in height may result in a little swaying. It's not difficult to unfold the desk, but may need some patience loosing and locking the buttons. It is not that easy to change the height, so keeping it in one place may be a good idea.

Bed stand? Maybe, but standing desk: certainly!

So many people using this stand do so in bed. While I can see the utility of the product for this use and for those who disabilities, I also see the downside that has been reported: you shift in bed, the laptop slides off, and you get an Excedrin headache or a chipped tooth.

But I didn't buy this product to lay down - I bought it so I could stand while doing my work or surfing the web. I already have an adjustable height desk at my office, and this gives me a simple and portable solution at home. I've been seeing more and more health studies decrying the amount of time people spend sitting as being very unhealthy. I even saw someone go so far far as to call sitting the new smoking. I know that I am more alert and more productive when I spend a significant portion of my day standing. But enough about the politics of standing versus sitting.

For standing while on your laptop, this is a use where this product really shines. It's lightweight and collapses completely when not in use. You can adjust it to a variety of heights. There's a compass-degree guide on the hinges to make it easier to align the left and right hinges to the same angles. (Without the guides, it would be very difficult to figure out the angles. I struggled with this until I realized the utility of the compass numbers on the hinges. Just look at the setting on one side - say, 75 degrees - and match it on the other side.

I would think this product could be readily adjusted to sit on a table or desk and provide the right height for anyone to stand who is 4'10" to about 6'4". The product works well to vent the heat created by my laptop.

I find the stand particularly well-suited for standing while on your computer and recommend it highly for this purpose.

One of the best laptop stands out there

I spent HOURS looking for a laptop stand (work from home & just needed something to use when I didn't feel like sitting at my desk or needed a change of scenery). I ordered 3 different kinds - Lapinator Plus! (WAY overpriced & too small, I returned) and Myplace Laptop Table Workstation (which I also kept). I loved the fact this has so many angles/options, came assembled & is intuitive to figure out (not only how to use but how to adjust height/angle, etc). It's exactly as described, feels very sturdy & high-quality, and gives me a lot of options. Worth the price & highly recommended.

Great laptop table

I had been looking for a laptop desk/table/tray like this for some time; at one point, before discovering this product, I had seriously considered designing and constructing my own. Fortunately I found this first, because it is, in all respects, nearly identical to what I had in mind. I did not, however, purchase the product immediately upon finding it, largely in part due to the poor reviews by some people regarding the joints/buttons. I cannot speak for them, and it's entirely possible that early models had a manufacturing problem, but I can say that's not the case anymore. That being said, here is my review:

Basic Overview
First off, I will only recommend this particular model, I know there are others, so don't take my review and think that it will apply to those models, because it might not.

This model is made out of very sturdy aluminum and is brushed silver; looks very nice and techie (for those of you that care about looks)
The overall weight of the product is very light, so it is easy to push around, pick-up, etc.
The joints are solid black plastic with aluminum buttons; there are three joints (adjustments points) on each side that gives you a wide range of settings/setup
The buttons can be difficult to press, because both the spring and the locks must be strong enough to not only support the weight of your laptop, but you banging on it. So to make adjustments, it does take a good bit of strength to depress the button; and from my personal experience, it should only be done without the laptop sitting on it.Read more ›

Caution & attention may be required

While this is a well-made product that is probably better than the others offered online, please heed this caution before purchasing. Some photos on the web show people sitting up in bed with their laptop screen lower than their head. For them, this is a perfect product "as is." If their laptop or iPad topples over while being used, they can just "right it" from their lap with a motion of their hand.

Other pictures on the web show people flat on their back with their laptop or iPad higher than their head. While recovering from a back problem, this described me and my need. Set-up took only a couple of minutes and all seemed perfectly balanced.

After a period of intense email reading, I probably shifted my weight without realizing it and then "BAM," my laptop toppled over and smacked my face so hard, I was left with a nasty gash between my eyebrows that required medical attention. (In retrospect, I realize I instinctively raised my hand to steady the stand while the laptop was free to fall and land on my face.)

So either chained cable-ties or Velcro of some sort may be needed to prevent this type of injury if you need to use this while flat on your back.

Some other observations: First, the tray is well designed with a smaller "lip" on one side and a larger lip on the reverse. This allows for different laptop designs to be accommodated. At least one frustrated reviewer appeared not to have figured this out. I have now successfully used this with multiple laptops and my iPad.

Second, the holes in the tray allow for heat dissipation.

Third, the joints are easily adjusted. Patience may be required for the first use as one experiments to find the angles that work best for them.

Lastly, don't fall asleep or fail to pay attention if using this while flat on your back. I'm now going to work on better affixing my laptop to the tray.
