Terrible quality.

I don't know what product these other reviewers received, but the one I received was not solidly built at all. Not even close.

Here are all the issues I have with the one I received and this is how it arrived at my door:
1) Corner of tabletop is broken. Where the corners of the wood meet, they are not attached. Like they forgot to glue it or simply did so poorly and it detached.
2) The "magnetic" piece that is supposed to hold the top down when flat is, well, NOT magnetic, has lost all magnetism, or simply isn't a strong enough magnet. So it doesn't connect at all stay down flat. It's the plastic/metal white piece you see in the picture.
3) The bar of wood on the tabletop that holds the laptop in place when the top is up has a long crack along it. Who knows when that piece will break off.
4) The metal rod/latch that is meant to lock into place to prop the tabletop up doesn't even fit right into the wood slots. You have to jam it in and even when you do, it's barely in there so it will likely fall out if you move around a bit. I don't know about you, but I don't want that top collapsing on my fingers or anything else when I have it propped up.Similarly, the metal rod is fairly flimsy, isn't properly aligned, which contributes to why it doesn't fit well into the wood slots (how you adjust the vertical nature of the tabletop). The rods also aren't secured to the wood, so it can simply pop-out of the top.
5) Just in general, the wood has little holes and chipped pieces all over. It's as if they don't inspect these things at all because all of these flaws were SO noticeable. I saw all of this within a minute of unpacking the thing.Read more ›

Pure junk, don't waste your money!

If I could give this product zero stars, I would - it is an absolute piece of junk. My daughter is using it at college with a fairly lightweight laptop. It broke on the day it arrived, the first time she tried to use it. She put her computer on it and the weight of the laptop caused the top to split (the part that split was the non-tilting piece). She was not abusing it, she was simply using it as it is supposed to be used.

This product is not suited for the purpose for which it is advertised.

sturdy and well built

I needed something I could have sit on my desk so that when I want to stand I can. I have this raised to max height and it is sturdy. I had previously ordered another brand that was plastic with a built in fan and it broke about 40 days in. I have had this for about three weeks and really like it.

I use it with a 14" hp laptop on a docking station and have adequate room for a mouse. I wouldn't recommend it for 15" wide screens or bigger as you won't have room for a mouse.

Nice product, quality control could use adjustment

The desk came to me with several of the framing pieces unglued with no way of holding them to the desk. One of them had a nail sticking out of it halfway and enabled me to attach it to the desktop.

I ended up woodglueing it together. All of the sides look normal except for the one which had the nail in it, which has about a quarter inch of separation.

I probably just got a bad unit, but it's disheartening to see something like this pass quality control, and even moreso to have to deal with the hassle of returning/fixing it.

I use this lapdesk pretty much everyday. It does what I need it to do. I do wish that it was more sturdy where the legs were concerned. They don't lock in place when extended and if you move it you have to make sure the legs are still extended.

Cheap build quality. This thing didn't even make it a day before the wood split along the tray frame. Awkward to adjust, compared to similar lap desks. Buy it if you have a bunch of wood glue laying around that you want an excuse to use.
