Carpel tunnel, anyone?

This is a nice stand, and I like having my laptop screen elevated, but it's not a natural position for typing. Typing with your keyboard at a 45° makes your wrists feel like your hands are going to break right off your arms.

But...add a USB keyboard to your system, and now you have yourself quite a setup.

This stand lifts the front of my notebook about an inch in the front and six inches in the rear. The tilt raises the display to a much more comfortable viewing angle and also pulls it in closer to your face. It really is a nice change.

As long as you aren't trying to use your built-in keyboard, this is a nice accessory. Now pass me the Bengay Cream, because my wrists & forearms are killing me.

My "Airplane" sound is gone!

For a long time it sounded as if my hard drive were about to explode. The fan sounded like an airplane and the laptop was always running hot. Some surfaces helped more than others, but sooner or later I ended up feeling like I was sitting in front of a warm, loud jet engine. Enter this laptop lift. I got it to elevate the laptop screen and make my posture better by reducing how much I slumped. It did that very well, but I'm more excited about the by-product of eliminating the jet engine. The lifting of the laptop off a flat surface and the contour of the stand allows the machine to stay cooler. It's sturdy, lifts the screen to a better eye level AND keeps the laptop cooler. A five-star combination.

This "lift" should only be used as a "laptop riser stand" with an external keyboard - never type with your wrists pivoted upward

փ The elegantly curved rear of this lift acts as a laptop riser to keep the bottom of the laptop cool and optimize airflow underneath it.

ჯ Negatives:

ჯ The product photo for this Laptop Lift, both on the Amazon site and on the package box, suggests that you can type directly on your laptop while it is placed on this Laptop Lift, which is totally wrong and misleading.
ჯ Any kind of laptop stand/lift/riser that pivots the rear of the laptop upward has terrible ergonomics if you type directly on the laptop's keyboard because pivoting your hands upward when typing puts a large amount of strain on your wrists.
ჯ If the front edge of your laptop is relatively thin, the two rectangular tab bumpers that hold the front edge of the laptop in place stick up and rub against your wrists while you type, further adding to the terrible ergonomics of this design if you type directly on the laptop's keyboard.
ჯ Some laptop risers and stands have adjustable angles or heights, but this Laptop Lift is not height-adjustable.
ჯ This product is overpriced for being a simple piece of molded flexing plastic that is not very rigid and not height-adjustable.

When I first looked at this product on Amazon, I thought that the curved base of this Fellowes I-Spire Laptop Lift was made of a metal grill because the Amazon product photos show what appear to be lots of vertical slits running along the base. Solid comfort and control for your laptop

This laptop lift is a good thing for people who use their laptop as their primary computer as a workstation. The laptop lift comfortably and securely holds your laptop on an angle that is easier on the hands and eyes. Rubber legs hold the lift to your table, and the space between where the laptop sits on the stand and the bottom of the stand ensures improved cooling for your laptop. It's ergonomic, comfortable and very useful.

Let's talk Ergonomics and Your Workstation.............

I like to be solutions oriented. Clearly, computers (i.e. Laptops, `Pads', phones, fixed workstations) are ubiquitous, emphasizing the need for us need to personalize, arrange, and setup our environment with the best ergonomics possible to use our system efficiently and avoid injury (headache, neck pain, back pain, wrist pain, eye strain, etc.).

All the fanciest equipment in the world won't protect you if it is not appropriate for your needs.

In general, laptops are not the best when it comes to ergonomics in that the user tends to have either the keyboard or the display in an improper position. For instance you can have the laptop display NOT at center eye level or if it is, you have to reach up to the keyboard, or the keyboard will be at the right height while you are angling down your neck (with a strain pattern sure to develop) and head to view the display.

Basically laptops are really not capable of achieving ideal ergonomics, especially when you are working for hours on end. How often have you been so engrossed in your work, that you pressed on, ignoring the aches and pains?

This device can be somewhat helpful in that it elevates the laptop and provides for some improved ergonomics.

PROS:

-ventilates the laptop from all aspects to prevent excess heat so stem runs better and more efficiently

-small foot print

-lightweight (a bit less than the laptop)

-attractive design

-portable

- Can use it on a sturdy bed table/tray.

- Very simple and non-offensive design. Neutral colors. Sturdily built. Will not break in the foreseeable future (unless run over by a car-You have to try to break this! )

CONS:
