Good design but flimsy material

I have had this stand for about a year now. The height and adjustability are perfect. But the plastic material is flimsy, and it didn't take long for the little plastic pieces in the back that hold the stand in its desired position to break. So I've been using it with major tape slapped across the back of the stand to keep it from collapsing (which it still periodically does). I am now shopping for a new stand, one preferably made of aluminum.

Pretty nice, could be a little better

It is simple, lightweight, attractive and easy to use. It would be ideal for those who spend their life on the road in particular. I do wish you could slide the monitor forward on the base and I wish it were more conducive to added cooling.

Not what I expected

The stand is great, but not quite what I expected. There's a piece of plastic that sticks up to prevent the laptop from falling, as well as prevents me from getting to my CD/DVD drive. But it's something I can deal with.

Suits Me

I just needed a simple riser for my laptop so I could use it on my coffee table in front of the fireplace. This is exactly that. However, I would only use it at the lowest level. Any higher and it seems very flimsy to me. My laptop supposedly is not too heavy for it. I have a Dell Inspiron 1150.

Poor support, Flexs

This really isnt professional grade. I have had mine for over a year and found several issues with it:

1> The plastic platform that your notebook sits on will flex after a few hours of use causing your notebook to to tilt to one side or the other depending on how balanced it is. This is caused by the laptop heating up the very cheap and flimsy platform that is only loosely supported by ONE center support that is 3.5in wide for a 14.5in wide platform; two support at each back corner would have made a huge difference.

2> No Ventilation holes in platform. would most likely help to alleviate the flexing issue.

3> If the front of your laptop has a beveled edge (Such as the Dell "E" series) Then the front bar the laptop is suppose to rest against is less than 3/4in high and may not keep it in place

4> The platform has a very smooth matte finish and may cause your laptop to slide off (not helped by issues #1 and #3)

I work in I.T. and spend 50+ hours in front of my laptop; I switched to a Cables Unlimited Minifit.

Very low quality breakable plastic

I returned the item because it arrived damaged. In my opinion this is made of very poor quality plastic, if you buy this, you can count on that it will break very soon.

Does the job...barely

I've had this riser for a few years, and always regretted getting it and not getting something better. It does work for elevating your laptop, it's just cheap construction and poor design. Parts of it almost seem disposable. The rear piece that elevates the tray up or down is a small single plastic piece in the middle, and only supports the middle. So if the laptop is elevated, it's quite unstable and can rock left to right if moved. The front shield that keeps the laptop from sliding forward is pretty flimsy too, and I've often thought it might break if my laptop was heavier. Save your money and get something better.

Does the Trick

I got this laptop riser at the suggestion of my chiropractor, to keep my laptop more at eye level and my keeping my neck in line, and it does the trick. It is a little more frail than I expected, but it's been holding up fine so far, so we'll see. I wouldn't recommend being rough and tumbly with it, but if you use it primarily for sitting at a desk or having it steady-set on your lap, you should be just fine.

Wouldn't buy again

Doesn't work for my 15.4" HP Pavilion, it slides off the front. Works better for my smaller ThinkPad. I would prefer more height adjustment.
