Near Perfect...

Changing your setup from having your notebook setting flat on your desktop to being elevated by this product is AMAZING. I was skeptical about investing $40 in a product for this purpose but compared to other products, the price is not too much more. What I enjoy about this product is the USB hub. The hub can be used separate from the riser if you choose but works perfectly to keep the connections out of sight and out of mind going out the back of the riser.

I was apprehensive about the riser covering my mouse pad but with a separate wireless mouse and keyboard combo, I find I don't mind the mouse pad being covered. I have used the slot on the front to hold my phone but mostly now I use if for holding business cards or post-it notes.

This riser is very good about allowing your computer to breath and keeping it pretty steady. This unit including the 2 additional feet risers (which are included) with a 15.4 in screen notebook will raise the very bottom of your note screen approx. 9 inches up vs. lying flat on your desktop (your height will vary based on you notebook measurements).
At home I often like to switch from using my notebook at my desk, to lying in bed using it, to taking it into different rooms in the house. Taking your notebook out and putting it back in this riser is not difficult and rather easy.

I say the unit is 'near perfect' because it didn't lift my screen as much as I would have hoped it could have. I can't count this against the riser but your experience will depend on the initial height of your desk. As I mentioned earlier, to get an estimate, with a standard 15.4 inch notebook computer, the bottom of your screen will be raised just at 9 inches higher than if it were lying flat. Overall, this is a good quality product and worth the price.

Perfect for me

I've been using a laptop as my work computer for a while, and got tired of looking down at it all the time -- not the best ergonomic position. This stand turned out to be perfect for my needs. With the laptop open, you just put the keyboard side under the large lip of the stand and, and the back of the stand holds it upright -- in my case the bottom of the screen is about 10 inches off the desk top. The degree of rise is somewhat adjustable by adding or removing feet -- two sets are included but I only used one set. You can also use an extra in the back to increase the tilt a bit.

The lip in the front has a tray indented into it, which gives you a place to put your cellphone or whatever. The 4-port USB 2.0 hub fits into the back of the stand. There is open space underneath, perfect for threading through keyboard or mouse wires.

I find the stand to be quite stable. The only improvement I could suggest would be a strip of rubber inside the lip to help keep the laptop from sliding from side to side. Because I don't view that as a real problem, I give this one 5 stars.

Despite shortcomings, solved a pretty serious problem

I bought this thing because I spend long hours on my computer, and at the end of the day, my upper back and neck were screaming in pain. This product elevates the screen to eye level, and I use it with an inexpensive Microsoft keyboard that works very well, and have indeed solved my back/neck pain problem. That's the good part, here's the rest of my opinion about it:
This comes with a USB hub. It looks like it should mount somewhere on the unit to help keep the wires out of the way -- but it doesn't fit anywhere. There's a useless slot on the back that seems like it was designed to pass wiring, but there's no way this hub fits into that slot.
Second, if you look at a picture of this thing, you'll see a big flap on the front There seems to be a pocket in that flap that might hold a disc, but who would want a disc overlapping a keyboard? It's just plain annoying and would have been so much more effective with just a low bracket to keep the laptop secure. That's a fully functional keyboard under there, which I sometimes want to use because it contains media and other useful keys -- but the dumb flap . . . The setup sheet included in the box was entirely useless -- I was entirely on my own figuring out how to add the feet to cushion and raise my computer. Fortunately it's not rocket science, but the packaging and instructions are as annoying as their design.
But I no longer have a sore neck at the end of the day . . . all's well that ends well.

Laptop Riser that does the job

In searching laptop riser, the Fellowes model with the USB hub seemed the most sturdy with the best reviews so far. I bought it and am pleasantly surprised that it has all the major components I needed.

Advantages of the riser: 1) USB port that glues to the back keeping cords and nano-receivers for wireless equipment hidden; 2) adjustable base come in really handy when dealing with different desk heights; 3) sleek and sturdy design

My only complaints are: 1) laptop is not tied down to the riser so if you're adding an HDMI or USB to the laptop, it tends to move around quite a bit. A tie down system would ensure stability so the laptop wouldn't fall out; 2) trackpad is blocked completely. I have a wireless mouse, but it would be beneficial to have a removal or flexible piece that could be used or removed as needed.

Overall the riser is just what I needed and is very functional and sturdier than I expected.
