Very Disappointed - Extremely Unstable Unit

Due to a neck and back injury, I needed a laptop table that I could alternately raise and lower to use in a standing and seated position. The appearance, size, shape of this table is everything I wanted and needed. HOWEVER, the engineering design of the table is faulty. The cylinder/pole that connects to the tabletop and the base/stand does not have a secure fit. As a result, the table wobbles at both the top and bottom. The slightest push with the tip of the finger causes the table to rock/wobble, and the higher the tabletop is elevated, the more it rocks (as much as 1 inch). Even as I have the table fully elevated, and my hands resting on the laptop to type, the table is wobbling with each keystroke. In addition, the hydraulic on this table is so tight that to get the table to go back down to a shorter height I have to remove my laptop and put the full weight of my upper body on the tabletop to push it down. Since I cannot afford a more expensive unit (which promises to be sturdier) at this time I will have to keep this table, but I am VERY disappointed and sorry I made this purchase.

Stable and good height range

Height range with wheels is 27.5 to 37.5 in. I took the wheels off to drop that by 2 in. 25.5 is better when seated and 35.5 is still good for standing and I keep it in a fixed location in my home office.
It is about as stable as a single pole pedestal can be. Be aware that just like an office chair it does take some force to compress it back down once extended.
I have been alternating between standing and sitting work positions for two years and work with a notepad beside my laptop. Although this can work with the curved service the unit comes with, it is awkward. I have used a couple of different solutions over the last two years and researched everything I could find on the internet. The best I could find is one in the Herrington catalog for $270. For $48, I decided to try this first and I am glad I did.
If like me you, you find the curved surface inadequate, you can easily replace it with one that fits your needs. I spent $12 at Home Depot to buy a 12x24 shelf 4 insert nuts (T-Nuts can also be used) and a pack of #20 bolts and 40 minutes work to change the work surface to a rectangle.For a total cost of $60, I have exactly the work surface I needed. Great deal!

Just not well designed

Several problems here:
1) The lowest level that this goes is just a bit too high for a person sitting on a low chair (eg., a stool that I use as a doctor writing his notes)
2) The height adjustment is too tight. To lower the table I have to lean on it. When I pull the handle to raise the table it almost pops up. I have to remove the laptop to make adjustments.

The Balt mobile laptop stand, designed similarly, works infinitely better and is worth the extra cost.....

First things first -- this product is $50. Not $140. What do you reasonably expect for $50?

The product has a sound design and each of the components is sound/solid. It is straightforward to assemble. (I assembled three of them in less than 15 minutes. Only issue was that manufacturing dust needed to be cleaned off some of the parts; but all parts were in perfect working order.)

It would be unfair to call the item flimsy. It is not flimsy. It has a single post. But the base is no less stable than should be expected.

Let me confess that I'm not using the "laptop computer desk" as a laptop computer desk. I use it as a secondary work/storage surface -- to keep the surface of the desk where I work clear and to allow me to spread out papers and materials.

It is a very attractive item (I think .. again, for $50). Clean and simple design. The surface is a matte finish -- perfect. I like the all-black color (but for silver if you extend the post).

The lowest setting of the post will bring the surface into a parallel level with a typical desk height. I don't see why you would want to extend the post beyond that level -- but you get about another foot (or more) of additional height if you want it. Of course if you have the post fully extended (and the surface loaded), stability will suffer.

I put one next to the computer workstation of on of my daughters for her food/drink and work papers. I have one each in use behind/next to my desk in two other office spaces.

I really like this table, and plan to buy another. It's very sturdy when not fully extended. I wish the table surface was larger, or a larger option was available. Otherwise, it's a great product for the price. The small table surface and large wheel base makes it convenient to move and walk around.
