This holds a charge out of the box for 2 hours min. Some people claim its not as long as the original, but I think they may forget as brand new my Gateway NV53a never held a charge longer than that, At that time 4 years ago the charging of these batteries was no were near today and regretfully this battery does not make the laptop "new" by holding the charge longer than the original. Much of the longer battery time for new computers is due to the new laptop hardware and software as opposed to battery technology. I was hoping I would get 6 hours like the new laptop becasue of the increase in battery tech(but didn't), but I am happy I get the same charge time I did new. For the price for 24.00 I'll just get another.

After 6 full charges to 100% then to 10% and back again, with a few power adjustments I get 2 hours 30 min which is darn good for this laptop!

I got this battery literally 10 minutes ago. It was packaged perfectly. I took it out of the box and popped it into my laptop and turned it on. I almost cried of excitement because I haven't seen my laptop screen in a few months. Turns out that my laptop issue was mostly because of my old battery. Took a picture to show the battery life after using it. Will definitely update this in a few months.

Dying battery life in the original, this took care of that. It's my daughter's computer, so I dont spend time on it, thus I cannot speak of the length of the battery, but it works and thats the main thing. Original battery was down to about 30 minutes of life once off the wall.

Perfect replacement

I purchased this battery (along with a charger) when I was unable to charge my laptop's battery. My issue turned out to be with the charger and not the battery but I found this battery to be a perfect fit for my Gateway laptop. I kept it and use it instead of my old battery so that everything is fresh and new. If I was going somewhere without the ability to plug in, I could fully charge the old and the new batteries and have backup power on the go. If your battery is the problem, check this out.
