TL;DR │ If you are looking for the most affordable and capable laptop, look no further. It doesn't matter if you're a gamer or not; this is it for you. It is great – save for a few drawbacks. It uses a TN panel instead of the superior IPS panel, and it doesn't have touchscreen.⁽ⁿ⁷⁾ It is also thick, but for a price that is at least $500 less than thin gaming notebooks, it is expected. However, it is also easily serviceable, which is a HUGE plus for a gaming laptop. Be responsible not to void your warranty though.

I will not discuss performance benchmarks here because Google already has a LOT of that info. Here, I'll discuss the hardware and some of the internals, with some photos.

I needed a new machine ASAP. It is a time where Intel's Broadwell and Skylake is just around the corner, as well as Nvidia's Maxwell. I didn't want to get a flagship laptop now and regret it after a couple of months, so I settled for a shorter term solution. My requirement is that it should have quad core i7 and an Nvidia graphics. Another thing was that it should be user serviceable and upgradeable. The GL551 is the cheapest one out there, so I decided to go with it.

WHAT I LIKE │ + │
+ Most affordable performance laptop, with solid build.
+ User serviceable for advanced users.
+ Removable battery.⁽ⁿ¹⁾
+ 2.5" storage drive slot.⁽ⁿ²⁾⁽ⁿ⁰⁾
+ Optical drive tray which is replaceable.⁽ⁿ³⁾⁽ⁿ⁰⁾
+ Doesn't use a thick power brick.
+ Screen-Off function. This should be a standard.
+ ROG logo on the back cover lights up. Neat!

WHAT I DON'T LIKE │ × │
× Fingerprint and smudge magnet.

(IMPORTANT EDIT) Make sure before you start gaming to go to your Nvidia Control Panel, from here change the preferred graphics processor to your Nvidia card. The PC selects the integrated Intel HD Graphics chip by default, which is less impressive performance-wise and loads your CPU, resulting in high heats! Since this change, my heats have gone down from 90-93 on the CPU to 80-85 and around the same for the Motherboard. Before, the NVIDIA card would hang around 40 C, even during intense gaming, now it's around 70-75 C because it's actually being used! (this edit overrides the edits at the bottom of the review.)

This PC is absolutely amazing for the time I've had with it.
What's in the box?
-The Laptop (no-brainer)
-Power Supply (another no-brainer)
-Cable Tie
-Warranty Card
No it doesn't have the subwoofer featured with the other G series laptops, and the sound isn't too impressive. I use headphones most of the time anyway so it doesn't matter to me though.

I've had the laptop for about 3 hours now and I've done about a half-hour of BF3 ("high" preset at 1080P) on it and it got hot pretty quick (around 86 on the CPU and GPU) but it didn't go any higher. The left side of the keyboard gets very hot, but the keys and area your palm goes still stays bearably cool, which is a plus.

Also, while downloading Titanfall on Origin, I noticed that I have an average speed of around 10-15 MB/S, which might just be my connection, but on my $1000 gaming desktop rig, it gets around 3 MB/S (on ethernet too, as opposed to WiFi on the laptop) on the same connection.

Of course, if I start having any issues, I will update this review, but so far it seems like it can run almost any game you throw at it on mid-high settings.

This review is after just over 1 week's worth of use.
I am a computer science college student, and I was mainly looking for a laptop replacement for programming and some gaming on the side. This product fits my needs quite well. Where to begin...

Screen:
It's a TN screen. From my experience, the viewing angles are not bad. Text can end up slightly jagged, but that's the nature of the beast. My untrained eyes notice no distortion of color. With all the hype about IPS screens, it's really not that bad. I code and read textbooks on my laptop, and it's just fine.

Keyboard:
I like it. A lot. The low-profile keyboard has a soft matte feel to it, and I haven't have any problems with responsiveness. For me, the number pad is a plus (it's something I was looking for). My one gripe is that there's no "end" key unless you disable the number pad - it takes up the same key as the "1" key. Also lights up red (adjustable, and nice for using in the dark).

Touchpad:
Flat big rectangle with no buttons (the pad does still click of course). As with any touchpad, the sensitivity takes some getting used to, but there's nothing inherently wrong with it. It is a bit...loose? If your tap with a bit of force, it does rattle - not to noticeable unless you're looking for it.

Battery:
I get around 2.5 hours with normal use. This includes programming, browsing, music, Youtube, etc.
Gaming gets less of course - slightly less than 2hr. Still good in my book.
The battery pack is removable.

Heat:
This was something I was very wary about since my last laptop had a big heat issue. This laptop, surprisingly, doesn't have much of a problem with heat. It's a single fan on the left, but it does it's job quite well.
