The description states that the pad is 2.7 x 17.3 x 11 inches and can hold up to a 17 inch laptop. Actually, that's not even close, and the manufacturer's website gives the same dimensions. The actual dimensions are 0.5 x 12 x 9 inches. My 15.6 inch laptop is too big for it. I guess I will be out the return shipping costs on an item I wouldn't have bought if it had been described correctly.

I can't comment on the quality of the pad since I haven't taken it out of the package. It very well make an excellent pad for a netbook.

There's really not a whole lot to review about features of a chill pad except performance and function. But I can say this. It works and it does so very quietly. One can barely tell that it's even on. You will forget that it's there. It fits my 15 inch laptop perfectly too. I like the way it angles the unit for better typing as well. It's thin enough to keep both in my carrying case. With that said, I plan on putting velcro tabs between the two so they will stay together and in place. My laptop is a few years old and is a model that had a problem with the video chip running hot. Plus the laptop was one of the models of that brand involved in a class action recall for that problem. I missed out on the recall & replacement period and had to pay for a chip replacement instead. This was the primary reason why I got the chill pad. So far, I've had no problems with heat in the unit while using the pad. I've even let it run all day using A/C power and the laptop has worked without problems. I needed to find this out before the chip warranty expired. So now I feel better about using my laptop.

The main thing that drew me to the Gear Head cooling pad was the price. It was affordable and on sale when I bought it. The salesperson informed me it was decent enough, nothing spectacular, but after having wasted $30 on a cooling pad that broke after 3 weeks by being dropped 10 inches to the ground, I wasn't in the mood to waste money on junk. I picked it up, took it home, and plugged the USB cable into my computer.

I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised by this little cooling pad. It's not the quietest thing around, but for the price it does its job. With two fans so spread out cooling across the bottom of my laptop, it has done well keeping my computer cool. It's easy to take with me in my computer bag and even comes with a built in cord area where the USB cord snaps in and doesn't get tangled. For the price, you get a decent device.

I bought this cooler at Big Lots (biglots.com) for $12 (store-permanent set price). For the price, I must say it does what the packaging advertises and isn't all that bad. The cooler advertises itself as being fit for 17" laptops, and perhaps it may fit them as it fits about 75% of my 17.3" laptop's base.

It's VERY quiet. All you really here is a low, soothing hum from the fans. When I am running games which requires tons of power from my laptop my laptop will still heat up but not around the area the fans are in meaning you need to have the fans directly face the area in which your CPU, GPU, and/or RAM sits. (basically, wherever the center of heat is) If you position it in the general area of heat, it will cool at a small amount. If your laptop is a gaming laptop which will obviously burn if left uncooled, this cooler may not be for you. (in that case, i recommend getting the professional Thermaltake or Cooler Master brand laptop coolers)

There are two long horizantal silicon strips on the cooler. It's very strong and keeps my heavy, slippery-bottomed laptop in place very well. I was especially pleased with this.

It is USB powered and the USB cable is made of a bit of cheap material but seems to work overall. The cooler powers on as soon as you connect it to a device that takes USB and is powered on

This laptop has feet to elevate the laptop. Probably for ergonomics and air circulation on the bottom. They pop off like children's toy parts, so they can be removed and placed back on through thier holes. Be careful, if this device is dropped the feet fling off with enough impact. My cooler fell on a ceramic tile floor and lost one of it's feet.

I bought a Gear Head USB Dual-Cool Laptop Cooling Fan - Black/Grey (ROHS) (CF3300BLK) for my power-hungry HP Envy notebook computer. Worked well, with fans quiet enough that it was hard to tell when they were on -- for about 5-6 weeks. Then, one of the feet spontaneously snapped off (no undue stress; just setting up my machine). Shortly thereafter, it became clear that sometimes the fans were inaudible because they weren't actually on. Each time I used this, I carefully stowed the cable using the slot on the back side. Nonetheless the wiring got flaky very quickly.

Save yourself some money. Buy something of higher quality (and yes cost) the first time. I'm now using a Cooler Master NotePal U2 Laptop Cooling Pad with Two Configurable 80mm Fans (R9-NBC-8PBK-GP), and it's clearly a much higher quality item: metal, not plastic; nearly-inaudible fans that can be positioned where you need them most; a USB extender so that you don't lose a precious USB port.
