Whisper Quiet and Accommodates Large Laptops

I needed a better laptop cooling pad, and the Havit HF-F2056 is very lightweight yet still provides good airflow and is whisper quiet. This works for 14" - 17" laptops and provides a good deal of cooling airflow. The only con most would have is that you can't turn off the LED lights when plugged in, but if you have a 17" laptop it blocks the fans so much you barely see any light leaking out of the bottom of the tablet. The other thing is, I like that it doesn't require separate A/C power and that it gives you back the USB port that it takes up by having a 2nd USB port on the cooling pad itself.

Overall pleased with the product and is as good if not better than most other <$30 laptop cooling pads I have used over the years. The feet are better designed than previous Havit models.

GREAT LAPTOP COOLING device! Be sure to read past the first paragraph . . .

If only there was a switch for the LED lights! While the lights are "cool", they are unnecessary and waaaay too bright in the darkened environment in which I frequently work, casting eerie images all over the walls 10-15 feet away.

That one gripe aside, the real reason I bought this item was to cool my Toshiba 17" laptop that recently began having overheating issues after about 18 months of use (video card, not so much the CPU -- but since they're integrated on the motherboard, one affects the other). And, after looking at the reviews for a variety of different units available on Amazon.com and doing price/product comparisons on eBay and Newegg, I chose this Havit unit on Amazon.com . . . and am **thoroughly pleased with my selection.**

The exceptionally quiet downdraft functions perfectly as a heat sink, and effectively cooling the laptop which slightly overlaps the unit on the left and right sides only. The metal screen surface on which the laptop rests is very rigid and does not deform under the weight of the laptop -- a frequent complaint I read about on less costly units made entirely of plastic -- and one of the main reasons I chose this Havit model. The added benefit of the downdraft is the cool air flowing across my lap. No more hot thighs as I recline in bed or on the sofa -- the two most likely places I work when at home. the sides and base of the device are heavy-duty plastic and made to last.Read more ›

Pretty good cooler

Pretty good cooler. I'm actually using this underneath my Asus AC87U router to keep it cooler since it is apparently susceptible to heat issues. I'm glad I bought this larger version because the air flow you feel is actually pretty subtle. Nonetheless, the see through grid design of the cooler and the 2 legs at the front raise it and allow air to flow better. Came with about a 12 inch USB cord and has an on/off switch in the back.

This is a great cooling system

I’m usually working with high video demand programs, as I’m an illustrator so my laptop is used for many hours so I was looking for a cooler that could keep a permanent constant temperature. That’s why I bought this cooler as I thought that 3 fans would provide me that proper temperature. This is a great cooling system, very powerful and strongly designed with real metallic parts. Even that has over 1100 RPM speed is not so noisy. Easy to use, no drivers tire. Simply connect the device to the USB port, is equipped with rubber feet built for positioning and safety. Its blue light gives me some inspirational ideas, even that sometime is an invitation to sleep. Overall, this is a reliable and very good product!

Excellent product

At first I hesitated about buying or not this product, finally I just bought it and I'm glad I did. This product is really awesome, exactly what I was looking for, really very slim frame, capable of supporting any 15.6 laptops. Fans speed is just the right one, you can see the difference in the laptop's temperature sensors when the cooling system is on and when is off. Blue led lights are on when fans are on, so it's great to let you know cooling system is working. Not only slim but very light. That makes it easy to carry in any suitcase wherever you go. I'd highly recommend this product to other buyers. Don't hesitate, I've purchased similar cooling systems for laptops before and tested many of them but none of them can be compared to this one. It's really an excellent product.

Provides No Cooling Benefits

The reviews for this looked great and I really wanted to like it, but it just doesn't do what it's intended to do.

Upon setting it up for the first time, I was a little surprised at how little air I felt come through the 3 fans. But I figured maybe that's a poor way to test the cooler and decided to run some tests on my own. Using a handful of temperature monitors, I ran a series of tests on my laptop to see how much cooling this device provided. Did my best to replicate scenarios (including the level the internal fans were running at). I was surprised that the cooling benefit was almost non-existent. There was maybe a 1-2 degree difference when running some higher end applications (this falls within a margin of error), but I think that had more to do with the increased air flow the cooler provides by having an incline.

Now part of the problem might be the 3-fan design. While you'd think it would provide a broader array of airflow, it actually limits the space a great deal. Almost all the air comes from a small part in the middle. As an example, I took a single sheet of Kleenex and covered the left and right third of the cooler. It had almost no effect. Now when I played it over the middle third, it blew it off.

Now maybe this means it will provide better results depending on the brand of laptop you have and how they configure their exhausts. Mine is an MSI. Perhaps it would be beneficial to those with older laptops that have internal fan issues or are much dirtier inside. But in my opinion, I just don't see it providing much airflow in the right spots to make a difference. I think the differences people are seeing is from the incline providing some air flow in the back of the laptop which will always help laptop temperature a bit.Read more ›
