Slooow as molasses on a cold winter day

I bought one of these yesterday as an emergency replacement for my 8 yo MacBook that suddenly died. Even though I'm not a Windows guy the price seemed great so I took a chance. Wow, what a rude surprise! I don't know how much Windows 8.1 has to do with it, but this thing makes my ancient, low end MacBook look like a Formula 1 racer. It is slooooooooooow. I figured a machine that was 8 years newer than mine would also be 8 years faster. Wrong. Everything seems to happen in slow motion, when it happens at all. Click on button.... wait..... wait..... wait..... okay, it looks like it might be loading. And the trackpad buttons are horrible - very skinny and need a lot of force to depress.

I now understand why Windows 8 has received so many bad reviews - it's a train wreck. Ease of use? Jeez, I'd much rather be on Windows XP. The ONLY good thing I have to say about this laptop so far is that it was dirt cheap. For that alone I almost gave it two stars. Admittedly it was close. But not quite close enough. I'm going to play with it for a couple more days, but my guess is that it's going back to Wally World. Oh well...

Follow-up: I kept the HP for 2 weeks while trying my best to learn to live with its flaws. Had there been a cheap and easy way to downgrade to Windows 7 I might have kept it, but Microsoft makes trying to do so such a PITA that I finally gave up and returned the HP just before the WallyWorld deadline. In spite of stretching my very limited budget to the limit, I then decided to spend 4 times as much for a MacBook Pro refurb instead. I'm happy with that decision.

I had not used a windows based computer in 10 years. I bought this laptop because of an emergency need for a school project that required windows based programs. I was expecting this to work in par to what I was accustomed in a IOS computer. I was shocked to find this package worked like it was still 1999. It is extremely slow, and bare to the bone, I had to purchase a separate office package because it had nothing in it to start working. It makes a great toy for someone who does not need to get any actual work done. I will never purchase another PC without knowing I can return it because of poor functionality. Do your self a favor and never buy a PC with out first trying it. Very disappointing.
