Excellent laptop, perfect for my needs!

I was looking for something that could run all heavy programs smoothly. I initially wanted to go for 8GB of RAM but I was willing to do 6 GB. It seemed to be a good laptop and I was about to buy it but that’s when I also stumbled upon this laptop. After doing some more research on both of them I decided to buy this new HP 15-r210dx. This laptop is great. It runs big programs very well and I do most of my work on it. Note, I've only been trying out this new laptop for about a week or so but I am rather impressed. Because of my work I also have to run heavier applications than most people and I've already installed and ran these and everything is running great.

Overall, this is a great laptop; it has an excellent processor, very spacious hard drive and sufficient ram. It’s hard to beat for the price with the new 5th gen Intel i5 processor. Many computers for this price typically end up lacking in the quality of components but this one was built right. So far, best windows laptop experience I've had in times!

Excellent laptop for the money

You can't go wrong with this laptop. It comes with 6gb of ram but I put an extra 8gb stick in to make it have 12gb, so now I have an i5 with 12gb of ram, not bad at all. On this laptop you have to take everything apart to get to the ram underneath the motherboard but that's how most laptops are nowadays. Also put a 240gb solid state drive in so it boots up in like under 10 seconds, upgraded to windows 10 and it runs beautifully. Battery life is about 3 hours or so depending on the load. Laptop feels really solid overall unlike some of the older HPs that seem more flimsy. Speakers are pretty loud for this unit, has a DVD drive even though that's not used much anymore. Has only 1 USB 3.0 port which is kind of a bummer, should have most by now I would think. Overall excellent laptop for the money.

Very Good Budget Laptop.

Is fine Low cost Laptop. The i5 fifth generation processor isn't quite as fast as expected, but with SSD drive replacement it make a difference. Generous 750 GB hdrive, 6 GB Ram is generous. Good quality Display, but don't expect 1080P display quality. Unit is solid sturdy case and serves purpose of Laptop to travel.

However, with today's notebook computers, replacing the Hard drive takes some skill. HP however gives very good instruction in the Manual. Replacement of Ram memory is more difficult, but with 6 GB Ram, that was sufficient for me.

Computer wouldn't start up

I bought this laptop for my daughter to use in school. The price was right and it was delivered in a timely manner. The problem was that when she booted it up, an error message appeared on the screen saying somehow or another the computer had been compromised and to call a phone number that appeared on the screen to get IT help. I didn't know about it until after she called the number and gave the IT specialist $50 to fix the problem. It took about 1and a half hours for the problem to be fixed. If I had been there and had more time, I would have sent the computer back. After spending more that $400 on the laptop, it should of at least worked from the start without having to spend additional money to get it going. Smells to me like some sort of scam to get more money out of me.

Not Bad-- But Upgrade the Windows Platform Immediately

Delivery was fast; only a few days after I ordered it. The computer's lid has an irregularity: The color is supposed to be black, but there are two permanent dark-gray patches--as though someone tried to clean the lid and accidentally rubbed too hard. Other than that, the keyboard has good response, the touchpad is sensitive, and its speed (Intel Core I5) is satisfactory. I recommend upgrading to Windows 10 as soon as possible to get a clearer impression of how this laptop functions.
