I bought this as a replacement laptop for my wife's old Dell Inspiron. She primarily uses her laptop for e-mail, youtube videos and web surfing. She was constantly complaining about how slow the Dell was to boot and do just about anything. I thought a Chromebook would be a perfect fit for her needs. She really likes the HP Chromebook 14. Its smaller, lighter, and more stylish than her old laptop. She has been very impressed by the speed compared to what she is used to. For her needs this laptop is great for her. One thing I noted is that the trackpad is not the greatest. It seems like it takes much more effort to click it than other trackpads I've used. If you are looking for a laptop for basic needs you can't go wrong with this Chromebook.

Great second computer

Just got this for my son for doing homework. We have a Windows desktop, but we would often find him playing video games instead of doing homework. His favorite games only run on Windows so he can't play them on this. Maybe it will help. We'll see.

I'm impressed with the boot up speed. I can see myself using this too, for web browsing, checking email, and maybe google docs.

My son's school recently gave every kid an Ipad for use during the school year. I think that's a big waste of money. A chromebook would be cheaper and much more productive. Hard to type on an Ipad and an add-on keyboard just adds more expense.

Glad I don't have to worry about manual updates, running virus checkers, and the general headaches of Windows. I'll limit that to just my desktop computer.

Would definitely recommend checking out a chromebook to see if it fits your needs.

This machine was made for one purpose and that was for fast web browsing. It performs its intended purpose very well, as the first thing you notice is when the lid is opened the computer automatically connects in a matter of seconds. To use the Chromebook the system requires that you create a Google account, if you don't already have one that is (Gmail, Google Drive, etc).

The Chromebook is unlike any other laptop you are likely familiar with as the computer operates on the Google Chrome web browser platform.
However, DO NOT mistake this machine for a fully functional laptop, especially if you are accustomed to a Microsoft Windows based O/S. Not to say there are folks out there that use this as one, though they would likely agree it takes more effort than most would be willing to contribute to make this Chromebook a true replacement for a traditional laptop. I find myself using my Windows laptop to use the Microsoft Office suite as the Microsoft Office app for Chrome does not do a good job for me especially since I am editing Word docs. File saving is meant to be done in Google Drive which is cloud based storage as you essentially have only "Downloads" as files that are able to be stored on the laptop itself.

In over 1 year I have had no issues with viruses, etc as Chrome seems to be a safer way of browsing that I have experienced and certainly safer than using Internet Explorer.

My Chromebook came with free 4G from T Mobile up to 200mb in a month which at times has been invaluable when our Internet was down.Read more ›

Perfect performance, but poor screen quality.

It's my first Chromebook. And I'm really happy the work using this device. I choose this Chromebook because I prefer big screen and it makes me peaceful. The designe is so beautiful and it's so light compared to the size. The speed is so fast because Chrome OS is so light. It's so quite and the battery life is long lasting more than 7 hours. Starting time was super-fast that I impressend by that.
The only short weakness is screen. To be honest, I was disappointed by the screen because it was not better than my labtop that I bought 5 years ago. However, there's no problem if you see the video in this device, just the colour is not vivid that much.
Overally, I'm happy with this Chromebook because the performance is so great. If you want to do simple work like writing document, using Facebook, check e-mail, or playing youtube and prefer bigger screen. It's the perfect Chromebook for you.

Pretty nice little computer. HOWEVER, unless you have a cloud ready printer forget being able to print anything from this machine. That's the only thing I dislike about it. It says you can add a classic printer but I have yet to be able to add my Canon printer/scanner/copier.

Great computer for web browsing, online game playing, email, videos, etc!

This Chromebook is perfect for what I use a computer for--browsing the web, watching videos, Facebook, email, etc. It's fast and pretty much sets up right out of the box so long as you have a google+ account (I'm sure it's just an extra step or two to get one, if you don't already have one). The only drawback (if you can call it that) is the keyboard--no caps lock and no number pad. Obviously, if you have a need to use a computer for programs such as Quickbooks, Photoshop, MS Office, etc., this is not the computer for you. However for everything else that's web-related, this computer is pretty great. There are Google apps that you can download and use in place of certain programs, like Google Docs and WebPaint and whatnot. There's some getting used to using the laptop if you're used to using Windows or Mac but it's nothing unreasonable. So far I'm very pleased.
