Just like any college student Im pretty broke at the moment I need a laptop under 500$. So I came along the HP 8460. At first I thought great just another HP computer, but trust me, here me out!

Performance: It comes with Intel Core i5-2520M 3MB Cache, 2.5GHz, Max Turbo Frequency 3.2GHz. This will pass your expectations, I personally chose the i5 series. Because I needed to do some Photoshop and some video editing as well as word, netflix and internet browsing. The i5 chip wonderfully completed all these tasks, I barely noticed any lag. This laptop can pretty much do everything even minor gaming.

Design/Display: The design looks really good, I was expecting something really tacky because of the sub 500$ price. But the outside looks sleek, modern and so nice. Its made from plastic/aluminum, the laptop gives you a macbook air feel. The display is quite good as well HD 720p great for the average user, its also an IPS meaning you can view a high quality screen on any angle.

Battery/Keyboard & Touchpad: The keyboard is so good, it feels like a good quality laptop keyboard. But the only flaw is it flexes inside a bit but barely noticeable. The battery is one of the best in the market. It lasts me around 8-7 hours with moderate to heavy use, that is awesome considering the price point!

Overall: Im so happy with my purchase, and trust me you will to if your expectations are the same. A quality laptop with a sub 500$ price. There are some negative reviews on here because some people make a mistake and buy it from the wrong buyer.

Build quality of Elitebook line is still better since it is designed for business PC. Buy a refurbished one with confidence. From my experience, I think it is tested thoroughly by manufacturer to make sure there will be no other potential issue.

The price and the configuration (I still prefer Window 7) is great for people who want solid machines with limited budget.

Based on the specs this seems like a good deal. Ordered two of them. Both of them did NOT work. First one did not have an operating system installed and would not boot. The second one worked only when running on AC power. Would NOT work with battery alone.

Accessories not HP parts.

The hp8460 did not come with a product manual or a hp standard issue charger. The charger supplied was aftermarket and failed within a week of use. I had to purchase a second hp factory charger for this computer at an
additional expense. Although this appears to resolve the issue it should not have occurred.

I do not think any drivers were installed prior to shipping it to me. The fingerprint reader drivers are definitely not there and I gave up trying to find them.

Good laptop, excellent quality, really a good deal for a i5 processor with less than 400 bucks. Win 7 is a big plus. I am tired of using win8 and finally got back my familar system.
