This is the original HP adapter that came in the box with my HP, g72 laptop. I tried to get others that claimed they would fit to save $$$. But they did not work, this has the three prong ,not two prong that fits my g72 HP laptop. It is a great buy and prime shipping. Much better price than ordering it from HP. I will say it again. It is the original adapter and has HP on the adapter. It looks EXACTLY the same as the one that shipped with the new laptop.

I ordered this as a replacement for my HPG60 as described it is a HP charger and it does work for the G60 however when i pluged it in my computer informed me that the capacitor for this charger is smaller than the origional and would not charge at optimal performance. It does charge it, just at a slower rate and when i put my computer on hi perfomance it gets very hot but as long as it works ill take it over the $60 one.

Dead on arrival

Plugged in the charger right out of the package and it did not work. The PC light is on but the PC states the battery is not charging. Requesting a replacement. I'll update experience with customer service.

Update: return policy is very poor, I will have to pay for return postage for the defective unit that never worked.

Doesn't work for HP G72

After reading many good reviews, I decided to buy this charger for the HP G72 laptop of mine. After receiving it promptly, I plugged it in and I saw that it was charging- I failed to realize that after about 5 seconds after plugging it in it stops charging. I contacted the company and they said they would send me a new charger and to just recycle the old one. When I received the new one, I plugged it up and the same thing happened. It just stopped charging. I began to think that the problem was from my laptop. So, I took it to a computer store which checked the charger, and said that it was giving constant power, and doesn't seem to be defective. Then they checked by power input on my laptop and it was fine; but they used another charger and hooked it up and it worked just fine.

Bottom line, the charger doesn't work on an HP G72; though the customer service was good and the product seems not to be defective, it doesn't work on my device, which the advert clearly says that it does. 1 star.

It's a knock-off being marketed as an original HP. If I was interested in buying a fake charger I would have purchased the $6 and under options. Looks like I'm going to return. I heard the fake ones melt. I don't need a house fire. The product is a cheap hollow charger box and thin cord material. It does work, but I'm not risking losing my laptop or worse.
