Great Replacement Laptop Battery!

We received this battery the other day to replace the original battery in my wife's HP Laptop (HP Pavilion dv6t). Her current battery wasn't lasting more than an hour and would shut off without warning. I shopped around and found this battery for around $35 with the seller stating in their listing that it was a "Brand New HP Original" battery. The seller I chose was Mobile Parts Proz who had a good seller rating. There were a few in the $15 price range, but that sounded a little too good to be true.

So far, the battery is working great. It appears to be an original HP product and it fit the laptop perfectly. It charged up fine and holds a charge very well. My wife is able to work unplugged for over an hour and it still shows 2.5 hours and 75% remaining. We are very happy with this purchase.

When it comes to products like this, the seller you choose is very important so make sure you are reading the seller ratings very carefully so that you can have a better chance of getting a quality product.

ONE MONTH UPDATE (09/10/2013):
We have been using this replacement battery for a month now and it is still working perfectly. Charges up just fine and the laptop works great for a few hours while unplugged with no problem. So far, this replacement battery seems like a very good quality product. Highly Recommended!

NOT a real HP-issued battery, but works just fine

If you're looking for an authentic HP battery, you should order directly from HP but you should also note that they run ~$120 the last time I checked. Do the math and gauge whether it's worth it against the life cycle of your laptop. The photo shown looks exactly like the original HP battery that came with my laptop but that's not what arrived in the mail.

Judging from other reviews, it seems it's a luck of the draw what you're going to get. Sounds like some work, some don't, some have the markings of the real thing, some don't--mine didn't (ie, it didn't have a manufacture date). The text on the inner side of the battery is similar to my original one but the size of the writing is much smaller on the one I ordered. Don't forget: it's not just HP that has the ability to go and get stuff printed onto a battery, anyone can do that.

On the other hand, I have not had any issues with the battery I ordered back in the fall. I don't use it too much as it sounds like there is a limited number of charges one can get from it (the one that came with my laptop brand new lasted three years and I used it ALL the time) but performance-wise, it's been fine to date. It seems to last a little over two hours and doesn't take an unusual amount of time to recharge. I have noticed a few hiccups in my laptop performance since using the new battery but it could have to do with the age of my computer--in other words, I doubt it's from the battery itself.

If you are not looking to spend too much on a replacement battery and aren't fussy about having "the real thing", then I would recommend getting one of these. For the low price, it's does what it's supposed to do. The reason I gave the item only 3 stars is that it's claimed to be an "HP original" which could really mean anything if you want to get into semantics, but in fact it's not "100% REAL HP".

Has Same Numbers But Simply Does Not fit

We previously replaced our HP laptop battery with an Amazon replacement (same numbers, "HP" label) and it fit and worked fine. That replacement got too tired after 3 year or so to recharge so we ordered this replacement...again, same numbers and HP label (printing on label looks different). Well, the prior two simply clicked into place but this one does not come close to clicking into it's slot no matter what we tried. There is some physical problem with its shape or dimensions. Don't know how HP puts up with this labelling as it seems like a copycat as opposed to authorized version. I'd put it in the junk category. I see one star means "I hate it". That's exactly right. A pain to send back and start over.

This battery IS NOT an HP Original and is entirely misleading. It was a generic that tried to pass as an HP acceptable generic replacement, BUT what I wanted was ORIGINAL HP NOT a KNOCK OFF. This battery did not hold a charge for very long, then my laptop stopped booting at all. Luckily I had the original OEM battery that although it only held a minimal charge, it did allow my laptop to boot again. SO, BEWARE that ANY replacement battery you buy does have an authentic HP Brand logo on it. This product is a lie as presented as original.
