Worked but not OEM fitting

I ordered mine from MLC Distribution and they did a great job of promptly shipping and packing it well, but I had an issue with the design. Now I can understand that they probably manufactured the screen to fit a variety of models but these issues cost me some time in trial and error fixes. For one, the mounting holes on the top of my purchased screen were not there. The tabs were there, but not the holes. I was trying to fit this screen into a relative's DM4-1265DX laptop and the original screen had 4 mounting holes; 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. The screen that I was sent had only 2 on the bottom, leaving the top unsecured. Without mounting the top 2, it seemed that the display bezel would hold it in just fine, but in the end I had to modify the inside a bit to make sure it sat inside okay. I also had to make some modifications to the magnetic piece inside the bezel (which lets the laptop know that you closed the lid), because the screen I received didn't really accommodate for that piece, thus leaving a bulge in the bezel and causing issues with it closing properly. Again the screen worked just fine, but these issues cost me some time to fix and I figure there wasn't much the seller could do but send me another one which wouldn't help me any if this is the design they issue each time. Just a heads up to those who need it for a DM4-1265DX.

Money well spent - Do it yourself and Save

I both an HP DM4-1265 Laptop in June, 2011 and when I was going through security at the airport, my screen developed an internal crack due to the mishandling of the laptop by the security personnel. I did not know that the screen was damaged until I got home. I contacted HP and was told that the damage was not under warranty and it will cost me over $350 for them to replace the screen or they can send me one to install myself for approximately $250. I took the laptop to BestBuy where I bought it from and was told after they had sent it to their Geek Squad Repair office that it would cost approximately $350 to replace. I was then advised by an individual in the Geek Squad to go onto Amazon and search for a replacement screen which I did.

I bought the screen from Amazon [Viewone Tech] and it arrived in a secured package by FEDEX and it was easy to install. The most difficult thing was to get the small screws off the external part of the screen but that has nothing to do with this replacement screen. The moment it was attached, I turned on the computer without putting back the screen frame and it worked perfectly. I recommend that if you have the time and patience, save yourself a lot of money and order from here and do it yourself.

The product came brand new as promised. Installation was simple and made for a great early christmas present for the wife who's laptop screen was cracked by our son. If you don't know how to replace a laptop screen yourself don't waste your money, go on you tube. I did and the screen looks great. I would order from this seller in the future.

Save some $$ - Do It Yourself

I had purchased the HP Pavilion dm4-1160us a couple month's back and the screen was cracked recently due to an ill-placed foot one late evening. I took it to Best Buy "Geek Squad" for repair and the estimate came to $475 to replace the screen. Instead of being ripped off there, I sought the DIY route and am I sure glad I did. I purchased this replacement screen at much more than the fraction of the estimated repair cost at Best Buy. The whole repair took about under an hour and I followed a nice tutorial video I found on youtube.

The tools needed for repair was just a small screwdriver, and an exacto blade. I've had the screen in for about two weeks now, and it's still working great. It looks like the original (glossy) and it was shipped nicely wrapped in bubble wrap. I'm not a computer expert at all, and there are some steps during the repair process that was a little challenging (b/c of hard to reach screws). But for a $390 saving, it was definitely worth the little bit of leg work.

I got exactly what I expected with this order, and it arrived a day early! This is the ONLY way to go to fix a laptop screen--I was told it would cost somewhere between $300-$450 to have it done by a "professional." The transaction was great and replacing the screen was pretty easy. I'm very happy with the company, sales process and product. I would definitely order from this company again.
