I'm very satisfied with it, I bought it from Office Depot at $229. And for this price you won't get a 10 inch tablet including a detachable keyboard and Office 365 for a year, Plus I got 1 year of antivirus free. Anyway my main concern was the detachable keyboard based on some of the reviews here, I can tell you mine works great and I have not experience any noticeable lag at all. The build quality feels premium, not cheap.I mainly work with Office and for that it does the job. I pulled all my docs, did some editing and Office works great on this mini laptop. No complaints so far. I'm glad I did not go for the 7 inch I was looking for. Really 10 inch is better than 7 and still portable. I loaded a movie from my computer and we enjoyed it at bed time I will update if anything changes in the following days and weeks.

As one reviewer put it, ordering one of these is a crap shoot. (You don't know if you are going to get a good one with a keyboard that works) I was hoping mine would come through as a good one, and it did. Everything works perfectly. I decided even if it didn't, that I would be sending it into HP for a repair. This thing fills a niche that is far too important to me. I'll explain later.

Update. I wonder how many people are bending this all the way over which requires you to force it the last inch of the way breaking the keyboard connection joint? I know this is not the only reason but may help someone who may be so inclined. This is a 2_1 detachable. If you want a tablet only without the keyboard just detach it. A good mechanic never forces anything.

I paid hard earned money for an HP i7 laptop, the HP Envy i7 which is a high end $1100 beauty. My old laptop was an HP also, and that one is running Vista. It now serves a function as my Media Center PC, which records my favorite TV shows using a $50 Hauppauge TV tuner USB dongle connected to some rabbit ears. It has provided me with excellent reliability even though in its later years I did have to replace the DVD drive with a 20 dollar replacement. My brother's old HP laptop is still working great also. So I am sold on HP.

I also bought an Apple iPad Air with 32 GB of storage that ran me a cool $599 plus I added a $159 Belkin keyboard cover that makes it rival this HP X2. The iPad cost with keyboard cost $658. This X2 costs less than half of that and runs full Windows 8.1 so I can load all of my programs into it. And it has 64 GB of storage instead of 32. I love this thing.

Writing this review on this device. Overall, it's pretty nice and meets the expectations I had. Having said that, I believe my expectations were very realistic. This device has some drawbacks but I believe most of these are the same drawbacks that would be expected from any 10-inch tablet-y device. Before I bought this device I looked at the Acer Switch and the Asus Win8 transformer book or whatever it's called, both 10.1 inches, in-person. I've had the device for a few days now and there's been no issues for me except for the keyboard, which I'll get to later.

I was looking for a secondary laptop that I could take with me for travel or commuting, at the library, basically whenever I have time to kill when I'm not at home. I have a good 14" laptop which I bought over 3 years ago with the works - 8gb ram, etc. which serves me well when it comes to typing papers, programming, using Photoshop or CAD. It's showing its age but I'm not ready to replace it quite yet. I also have a decent desktop workstation + server that I leave at home and remote connect into, and most of my work-related stuff is on another server that I also remote into. Due to this I figured I was fine in terms of computing power, and needed something portable so I wouldn't need to wait some minutes for a noisy-as-heck laptop to boot up anytime I wanted to browse online or take down some notes. A keyboard was a must because there is no way I can expect to type anything work-related (coding) with any efficacy on a touchscreen when I need to press a ton of buttons to enter anything other than a letter. Initially I was looking at Chromebooks but wanted something with more off-line capability - so, Windows 8!

Update 4/30/2015 after a few months of the device working as it should it started to give me problems so I can no longer recommend this as a computer for the average user. I some how got malware on it(this is what I was told had happened by support and HP wanted 50 dollars to send me a windows repair usb, sending it in was covered under warranty though) and had to send it to a hp repair center what is weird about this is I had the same Internet security software on both my laptop and my tablet. After that got taken care of I was sick for a few days and when i came back to the tablet it would not turn on so I had to go and send it back to the repair center with its power cable. yesterday when I got it back it did not have the power cable with it so i had to get back on the phone with HP and sort it out they our sending another cable and it is supposed to arrive next week. thanks for reading

This tablet is decent for the price. the tablets only has 2GB of ram, I see this as a drawback as my laptop has 8GB ram inside. You can not open this tablet up and add more ram or a bigger hard drive. the keyboard is ok to type on it is a little mushy, but so is the keyboard on my laptop. I typed this review on the tablet keyboard.

When I received the tablet it only had about 8GB free on the internal storage if you enable disk compression in settings you will save 2-5GB of space. I feel if you do not get the 64GB version you must purchase a micro sd card that is rated UHS 1 30mbs or better and 32GB in size of bigger. it includes one year of office 365 a $100 value on a card at least in my version so you could redeem it on a laptop or desktop if you want office on that device.
