Decent laptop

Opening message: I bought this laptop elsewhere, it is a review for the laptop since there was none so far (my apologies to the seller.)
I bought this laptop on Walmart, it was on sale for $315, I got it for $288. Most sites have it for $400, so in a way it's overpriced on Amazon.

I have owned it for about 3 days now, so this review is based on my initial impressions, and not time tested yet. If I don't return it due to some hardware problems I'm having.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7500G Series (512MB DDR3, 424 MHz core clock, 667 MHz memory clock, 10.7 GByte/s Memory Bandwidth)
Max RAM: 8GB (2 slots)
Native Screen Size: 1366 x 768 (most laptops uses this size lately)
Sound: AMD HD Audio with IDT
Hard drive: Toshiba MQ01ABF050 (5,400 RPM, 8MB Cache, 3.0Gb/s SATA)
SD Card Reader: Realtek PCI-Express CardReader
WiFi: Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 b/g/n
LAN: Realtek PCI-Express FE
O/S: Windows 8 64-bit (can upgrade to 8.1 for free, after you've ran system updates.)

PROS:
* The processor is a 2.1ghz processor, which is very nice for an APU (hybrid processor with graphics chip combined.) Its faster then most other APU laptops I've tried. The product page says up to 2.6ghz, this is in turbo mode, or in other words, overclocking.
* It can play 720p videos quite nicely. I have even tried mkv (which usually run slow on other computers.) But the screen is 768p so don't expect to play 1080p movies without downscaling. BUT, I have not tried to play a 1080p video yet to see if the computer can handle it. More on that later.Read more ›

Oh yeah! This is the nicest laptop I have ever owned. The difference between my other touchscreen laptop, with an 11.6 inch screen and this HP, with a 16-inch screen - well, there's no comparison. So far, I am in love. The dimensions of this HP make it more of an at-home laptop, rather than one you would toss into a backpack to take with you to Starbucks. I sold my 11.6 inch Asus up the river for a song, didn't even recoup my original investment, after three weeks of owning her, because the screen was just too small.

I will update this review in the future if anything changes. I bought this laptop from an Amazon seller named DigJungle.

Updated review: I'm still in love and I can't believe this laptop has only been in my hands for 7 days. I take it with me everywhere I go, and I even bought a backpack designed for a 17" laptop. Even though this one has a screen size of 16", I opted for a little bit of extra room in order to protect my new investment.

Update #2: We're now officially married, four weeks into the relationship. I am insanely in love with this laptop. It's almost embarrassing. I'm so happy I bought her/him/it.

Update #3: Eight weeks and counting, and we're still in love. My only observation would be that I paid $280 for this laptop, and in no way is it worth the current $400+ list price on Amazon. That's too much money. It's a fabulous $280 laptop, but I wouldn't pay $400 for it.

Im on her as we speak....

So far so good had it a week however im noticing that when norton is running literally the mouse will stop for 10-30 seconds. Not sure I like that but computer is a great unit minus this. but then again Ive only had it for 5 days. More to come if anything else goofy happens and she needs to be replaced with an upgrade.

Good machine for the price.

The roduct was fine. One thing that would make it better would be to make upgrading the memory much easier. HP could have put an access panel in the bottom rather than having to take the entire machine apart to upgrade it. The basic functionality is fine, and for the price, it's a good deal.

I was told the laptop was brand new. Well technically it is a brand new computer out of the box. The only problem is the laptop has been in the box for 1 1/2 years. I found out when I called technical support. They told me my laptop wasn't covered under the 1 year warranty. I was told the 1 year warranty expired 4 months before I bought my laptop. I wouldn't recommend buying this product.

So far so good, especially for the price

Only been using for a couple of days now, but so far I'm very satisfied.
PROS:
- Great screen size and resolution. Great for watching movies or Netflix. Screen provides enough desktop space to actually do productive work on like running office apps or MS Visual Studio.
- Fast - Boots up faster than my desktop box
CONS:
- Windows 8 (Windows HATE) What a STUPID operating system. Still can't figure out what Microsoft was thinking.
- The keyboard is "stiff" unlike a typical desktop keyboard, but not unlike other laptops so I'll just have to live with it.
