I was in the market for an ultra-portable laptop that would function as a tablet while still fulfilling my basic needs of email, word processing, and audio/video storage and playback. The HP Pavilion x360 seemed to fit the bill with its hybrid design. Its features are impressive: 3 lbs, 500 GB hard drive, 4 GB RAM, Bluetooth, wireless b/g/n, 3 USB slots, media card reader AND an Ethernet port and full-sized HDMI output. Its advanced port-options put it ahead of the Lenovo Yoga 2 2 in 1 and the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 for me so I went ahead and ordered one directly from the HP store online.

When it arrived, I had issues with the audio playback and Bluetooth connectivity. The audio would crackle regardless of whether I used the on-board Beats Audio speakers, a Bluetooth speaker or headphones. As my local Best Buy was offering a better deal on the same model I went ahead and returned the HP Online item and purchased a new one from Best Buy instead, figuring I had received a dud. However, I experienced the same problems with the audio as before. I sent it in to Best Buy for repairs and after getting it back the crackle in the audio was completely gone. But then the headphone jack didn't work - audio continued to play through the on-board speakers regardless of what cable I plugged into the jack and the Bluetooth no longer hooked up to any speakers. Additionally, the touch pad sometimes froze up, making it impossible to move the pointer across the screen forcing me to use the touch screen function.

Needless to say, as audio/video playback is one of the most important features in a laptop for me and I prefer using the touch pad to the touchscreen, I will unfortunately be looking for a different model laptop. I have had good experiences with HP in the past.

As a traveling lady who works as a freelance writer, I value the compact size of this laptop. It makes it easy to write, blog and plan DIY projects on the road - or anywhere, really. It's easy to carry and doesn't add too much weight to my bag. I also LOVE the swivel screen and the 2-in-1 aspect, especially when it comes to reading books or magazines on the Kindle + Zinio apps. I didn't even start reading e-books until I got this laptop - too attached to my hard copies - but I have a new appreciation for it. Luckily for me, I don't even have to buy a tablet or Kindle (since is convertible!). I've been using this laptop for almost a year and it's still just as fast as when I got it. The red color is also pretty fun! A nice change from the typical silver and black.

Fast shipping a works as advertised. Had to spend about 10 hours removing usless HP software and updating Windows 8 to 8.1. The software updates were easy to do. I have been using it for about a month and no problems have been observed.

Nice little computer. The processor is super slow though. I just bought it primarily because of the size and the amount of memory. I was replacing a 6 year old laptop and it is the same speed. There are times when I will ask it to do something simple, open a webpage or email, and end up just doing it on my phone while I wait for it to get done "thinking".
Screen resolution is low too. I don't watch much on it, but if you'r buying it for that you will be disappointed.
The tablet idea is nice, but I don't think I've ever used it like that aside from a few initial experiments. It's too bulky and awkward.

I really want to give this laptop 3 stars, but it simply causes me too much trouble to justify it. There are two primary problems which make me regret buying this laptop. First- the WiDi is garbage- absolutely horrible. For those who are unfamiliar, it is a wireless was to project a display using a wireless display adapter. I have a both a phone and a tablet which are WiDi capable, and they connect flawlessly every time. This computer honestly connects successfully 25% of the time- absolutely unacceptable.

The second gigantic flaw is the WiFi connectivity. My other devices are significantly more reliable when connecting and using WiFi than this laptop, given the same wireless network. I often drop the signal, or will "connect" and not get anywhere on the network. I really wish I would have spent a little bit more to get the lenovo, or just stuck with my tablet.

I must say the body of the laptop and keyboard and screen are very well built. The mouse is hard to navigate, though is very sturdy.

In conclusion, the laptop looks very well built on the outside, I am not so sure it is on the inside. I would personally wish I would have gotten a different brand. I regret this laptop every time I need to get something done efficiently.
