Great laptop, fast, quiet and a great bargain.

I've had this laptop for several days now, and have been putting it through the paces. It runs my graphic design programs without a hitch, runs quietly and the keys are responsive and easy to push, unlike some laptops, they don't make my arthritic fingers sore. It has a DVD and CD writer, a nice webcam, and other bells and whistles. The only thing that is missing (or at least I haven't found it yet), is Bluetooth, but there are so many other options out there, I can get by fine, without it. The Windows 8.1 upgrade is a must, you can get it by clicking on the store tile, and choosing the free upgrade. There are three USB ports, and an HDMI port, too. The monitor is very vivid, and the colors are amazing. DVD's and Netflix both look awesome and play very smoothly, no jerkiness.The sound is nice, not tinny sounding at all, and reaches a very nice upper volume without feedback. Card reader works great, I was able to install and use Google Chrome with no problems. This is such a great deal for the price! It was very easy to connect to the internet, took about 30 seconds, including the time to put in my internet password...When we did the 8.1 upgrade, it actually found my Epson wireless printer and installed all the drivers and I was able to print immediately, without finding the cable to attach to the printer and install it. Works seamlessly with my smart phone (android), too. This is a great deal for a laptop with nice speed, decent ram, and lots of little bells and whistles. Love that is has the CD/DVD player/burner...so many don't now. Absolutely no regrets that we bought this laptop and highly recommend it for everyone :-)

Terrible Experience, $600 Loss, Do Not Buy From Issaquah Highlands Tech!

This computer was slow from the get-go, but I assumed that once all I removed all the pre-installed trial programs that things would pick up. Also, my old laptop was a Mac, and had a lot to figure out with Windows 8. Six weeks in to owning the machine things went from slow to crawling. Blue screens took me back in time to 1994. There was a 3 day period when I could not get the computer to turn on AT ALL. Rather than try and retell the story I'm posting the communications between myself and the seller that occurred over the next several weeks. You can decide for yourself if it's worth the risk of buying this machine from Issaquah Highlands Tech.

I received this machine approximately January 5th.

Feb 20- My initial return request through Amazon:
"Return reason: Defective/Does not work properly
Buyer comments: Won't boot up as of today- less than 2 months of very light use. I tried all the obvious & HP recommended fixes including the "refresh your PC" option- on which it has been stuck at 41% for 2 hours"

*Note- it was still stuck at 41% the following DAY. Then it went dark.

February 20- Issaquah Highlands Tech:
"the problem you had might caused by the virus, or damage on the windows, therefore, you need to restore the computer. please follow below instructions:

pls follow these steps:
1. back up ur important file to a USB drive in case u have some, like important document or photos.
2. power off your computer completely
3. power on ur computer to the login page
4. click the round button on the right corner of the screen , you will see options for Restart, Shut Down, etc

The up and down button on the key board acted up a bit after a week of using and I was thinking of getting in touch with HP but it is now working. Arrived on time. Its a fast laptop. Up grade form Vista to this. My only suggestion is that you purchase with 8.1 installed not 8.0 I called HP tech support around the 20th of Feb when computer locked up during upgrade to 8.1. Because of the time involved with the process tech support & tech support supv both told me they would call back in two hours to verify that install worked and I was back up and working....I am still waiting for the call back.The teen of the house was able to get past the hang up...no help from HP

Mechanical touchpad requires harder press

Nice value in this laptop, but the two buttons (left & right click) for the touchpad require a relatively large amount of force (compared to other laptops) before they click. You can also tap the touchpad of course, as an alternative. But I like soft touch mechanical buttons. Otherwise this is a decent value.

Did not match description
