Pros:

It's fanless. This alone may be the greatest perk of using this notebook. There are no moving parts inside to rattle or wear out, and you don't have to be concerned about intakes picking up dust, lint, or pet hair, and there are no heatsink grilles to clean. Under heavy use, you can feel heat radiating through the bottom chassis, opposite the QWAS keys, but not enough to be of any discomfort through clothing.

This notebook is very lightweight - not even 4 pounds. The bottom chassis is heavy enough to not tip back with the display fully open. Five rubber feet and one plastic gap bar on the underside of the notebook keep it from sliding or rattling on a desk or table.

The top edge of the lid is plastic, which allows the bluetooth and WiFi antennas to operate with minimum interference. WiFi performance is on par with any other laptop I've used, and it shows much stronger signals than my Galaxy Nexus phone a few inches away.

Battery life is excellent. 6+ hours of web browsing usage is not exaggerated.

Desktop performance is good. Chrome launches in 1-2 seconds, and scrolls smoothly with 8-10 tabs open. (Office 2013 will install and run smoothly, but after updates there's very little free space left. )

The MicroSD card slot on the left side had no problems recognizing a Sandisk 64GB Class10 card, and I regularly get 35-40MB/s read/write speeds. It doesn't lock completely flush inside the body, but it's in far enough that I've never ejected it accidentally.

Surprisingly good gaming / 3D Performance, lackluster web performance and bad trackpad

It is exciting to see affordable Windows PCs that are now competitive with similar Chromebook devices. This one from HP performs quite well in most applications although its computational performance lags behind its 3D and gaming capabilities.

The Stream has a 14" non-touchscreen display with 2 gigs of RAM and a 32 gig solid state drive. Neither are upgradeable. About half the drive's capacity is taken up by operating system and its recovery partition. So expect only about 16-17 gigabytes of free space. They provide a free two year subscription to Microsoft's cloud service which comes with 100 gigs of cloud storage.

Gaming performance is surprising. The HP Stream scored over 20,000 on the 3DMark tablet game performance test which is very respectable. It also very smoothly played Portal 2 at the Stream's native 1366x768 resolution and with anti aliasing turned on.

Web browsing performance was not as good. The Stream scored lower than most of the Chromebooks I've tested in the Google Octane Javascript test (running on Google Chrome). Web browsing performance is a bit sluggish but usable.

Overall build quality is nice. The machine feels solid and is relatively light weight at just under 4 pounds. The keyboard is comfortable and the keys are full sized. But the trackpad feels squishy and cheap. And there are too many gesture commands that flip windows all over the place that need to be shut off with no obvious way to do it.

But overall this laptop is a good value and well constructed. Without even a cooling fan it is completely solid state.

Great Laptop for $300 and Dont believe on how slow it is.

First off, all those people who said that this computer is slow is either lying or their internet service is slow. I was so scared on buying this laptop because of all those negative reviews that i had read about but, I must say that this laptop is so beautiful and it runs so smooth and quiet. All those bad things that were said about it are not true or they themselves must of received a defective laptop.

I had to write this review just to assure you the buyer that this laptop is wonderful. It is well made and it is so light and thin that It actually reminds me of a Mac Air. If you are looking for an inexpensive laptop that runs well please consider this one. I think your $300 will go a long way because of the way it is made and how it runs. To be honest it actually looks and feels like a high end laptop.. Another thing i must mention to you about this laptop is, not to worry about the DVD or hard drive which is NOT included but that stuff is so cheap that it doesn't even matter. A 32gb Flash Drive is included thou and you get 100gb of cloud for free for 2yrs but I actually bought a 1tb portable hard drive and an LG Electronics External Slim DVDRW 8X with Software GP50NB40 for 80 Dollars total on Amazon.The Links are posted with my review.

If your looking for an inexpensive lightweight laptop just to do schoolwork, movies or browsing well this is it. Try it for yourself i believe you wouldn't regret it.
*****Remember to install all the new updates for this Notebook as it will the computer to be faster and smoother.. Any internet problems or processor problems will be solved by the patches.. I just love this notebook.
