laptop works great, using for school and the touchscreen is amazing. Microsoft office runs perfectly and windows 8 is a little bit easier to use with the touchscreen (still prefer earlier windows)

Best balance between price and features out there

I bought this for my girlfriend in November. I waited to write this review to see how well the laptop will last.

Having done a lot of research for laptops with decent features in this price range, this was the best option and it turns out I was right.

Windows 8 is a horrible operating system in that, it was designed to be a great touch interface, which works great for tablets but not so much for a pc. With the touchscreen on this, you can sort of ignore the downsides of using windows 8. Also, you can modify it to work more like windows 7. But that is neither here or there as that has nothing to do with the laptop itself (other than that it comes with windows 8 like most laptops these days do and that it has the touch interface to make the transition less horrible.

The only true downside of this is the limitation of 8gb Ram. So you do not have much room to upgrade in the future and that is approaching fast where 8gb will be considered a minimum. Other than that, the storage space is more than adequate and the laptop performs well even for gaming (not for serious gamers) but she even plays Diablo 3 on this with no lag and on high resolution.

Its a great balance between price and features. This is what I recommend to anyone looking to get a laptop these days (for now).

Also HP is very good at releasing and updating drivers so I like their products.

great laptop. it's money well spend. it's fast. great capacity. i was a litle scared about the amd a8, but i'm 3 weeks of use it and i'm pleasent surprised, the best it's the tochsmart screen. i think it's the only way to manage windows 8.
