After just arranging the return of a similar mouse (different brand) that was dead on arrival and far more trouble than it was worth, the fact that this one installed its own drivers and worked immediately after had me inclined to give it a decent review even before I really sat down to use it.

Fortunately, actually using it hasn't changed my mind yet.

The mouse itself seems to be a bit chintzy, which is the main reason I'm not giving it five stars, but (at the moment, anyway) it's $13, so one really can't be too fussy. It's smaller than a corded mouse, but not so small as those awful miniature ones and is a regular mouse shape. It doesn't have any fancy bells and whistles, which is fine with me. It clicks more loudly, and with a firmer snap, than any other mouse I've used; I haven't decided yet whether that's a good thing or not.

So...it's not fancy, but it works and it's cheap and that's pretty much what I was after.

Pretty darn great. Exceeded expectations.

I just happened to see this in the promo bins at a local computer retailer. I've wanted to get a spare wireless mouse for travel purposes, and seeing it on sale for ten dollars, I figured, why not?

The mouse is a bit smaller than most, but is still comfortable. The build quality is actually quite nice, and the button and scroll wheel feels good. As a bonus, it has an on-off switch, which means that I can leave the "nano" sized receiver still attached to my laptop, turn the mouse off, and pack everything in my backpack without worrying about the notebook doing a 'wake on mouse movement', which had been a problem with my previous wireless mouse.

Are there better mice out there? Yes. But this HP mouse is so much better than random generic wireless mice at a similar price point that I had to put in a good word here.

Third button (Wheel) issues

The first time I bought it, the third button (wheel at the center) would not register clicks anymore after a couple of months.

The second time I bought it, the same button does not register scrolling properly after a month, even sometimes scrolls in the opposite direction.

Three stars because it's still a very cheap choice, and ergonomically fits your hand. Also he USB thingy is very short so depending on your laptop and carry bag, so you might not even need to remove it when you want to store the laptop in its the carry bag.

However I won't buy a third one (although they ARE after all relatively cheap), and I will look for a little more expensive model with a better scroll wheel.

I ordered a cheap wireless mouse and I got exactly what I paid for. A cheap wireless mouse.
For just a little more I ordered this HP mouse and it works GREAT. Should have saved myself the money from the first mouse because I ended up throwing it away. This is a great item.

Excellent HP wireless mouse

This is my 3rd one. I love them. Bought one for my wife and this one is for my daughter. Some complain about battery consumption. I have had mine for 10 months using it 10 hours a day and it still has the same battery in it. There is a little switch on the bottom of the mouse that I turn off when I shut my computer down. Failure to turn off the mouse when not in use could lead to accelerated battery discharge.

Product arrived as described and on time. I was hesitant to go wireless, however the product came with a AA battery, so I did not have to provide one. Also, there is a switch to turn the mouse off to preserve battery life. It responds well to left and right clicks as well as scrolling with the wheel. I paid a little more than I had to in hopes of getting a durable product. Time will tell. I am pleased overall though.
