I am a high school student and I have a 15 inch notebook PC that I did most if not all of my typing on. I wrote all of my projects and essays while seated on my bed with my computer on my lap. This worked well for about ten minutes before the computer became hot as a firecracker! I knew there had to be some sort of product out there that could help me with this but all I found were laptop stands with built in fans that were made out of metal or wood. Then I came across the lap mat. This is one of those "why didn't I think of that products." It has a leather like top that holds the lap top very well, and the best part is the soft padding that rests on your legs. No more dead leg. I love this product! There is even a little room for a mouse. Not much but you can make use of it! Overall this is a sweet product and is well worth the price.

The "top" is so flimsy it just warped under the weight of my laptop, preventing airflow to my air intakes. I would not recommend this item.

Too bad there's not a negative star rating system here- I'd give it a negative 5. I purchased this thing at $30 plus S&H to replace an aluminum folding laptop desk that had no padding; boy oh boy did I get taken! In fact, I filed a complaint with the BBB for false advertising, as the product doesn't do what it claims to do. The main problem is the ultra thin piece of flimsy plastic on the top: Heat from the laptop passes straight through it. Additionally, the top is so thin, it warps and curves, so you don't get a truly flat surface. While traveling, I noticed someone with a nice 15X19 padded laptop desk with a clip for controlling cords, pencil wells, and a thick, hard plastic surface. It was $8.99! I immediately went out to that store and bought two of them; I use two small bungee cords to attached it to the back of my rolling laptop bag. This product isn't worth the currently reduced price of $19.99; I wouldn't buy it at any price if I'd seen it before I purchased it. So, BUYER BEWARE: DON'T GET RIPPED OFF LIKE I DID. This is an inferior product, and for the money, you do much, much, much (ad infinitum) better!

Top of desk is a really flimsy leather-like material that flexes very easily. After light use for a few days the desk top started to warp and mishape. The cusion is just held on by velcro, not very good quality at all. Very dissapointed by this product.

Great idea for use while sitting and using your laptop when a solid surface is not available, but poor construction. Mine was warped within a few weeks of use. The surface where the laptop sits is flimsy and bendable and after very little use does not allow the air to circulate under the laptop. Found a much better one at a local office retailer and for only $20.00.

I love this little guy. At first after having read a couple reviews indicating that the pad has some "give" to it, I wondered if this would be a problem, but as it turns out it's not at all. I currently keep a laptop cooler underneath my laptop, so the total weight of both combined is a few pounds. That said, they both rest comfortably on this pad which rests comfortably on my lap while I sit in my recliner. When I get up, grasping the pad by the left and right ends, I feel a very small amount of "give", but nothing to compromise the strength of the pad overall. I have found the bean bags on bottom to be very comfortable. Combined, they cover about 90% of the bottom surface of the pad. When this item first arrived, I wondered if it was a bit larger than what I wanted, but now I'm glad it's got a bit of extra real estate to it. There is some space if I ever want to place an item (or a mouse) on the side, which I now see as a plus. In theory it would have been nice if there were a pencil stop bar on the pad, but in practise I would rarely if ever use such a thing, so that's no big loss. I do like the way the unit is indented on the portion facing your body, allowing it to contour to you rather than stick into you. In all, I'm very please with this item.

I bought this along with a laptop cooler pad (with fan). I thought the set up might be too bulky but did not want to replace another thermal pad on my HP notebook. It is the perfect size and quite stable. The cushion underneath attaches by strong velcro. I love it.

This is only the third lap desk I've ever owned in my lifetime, and the first two each gave me a dozen years of good service with almost everyday use. Point being? I am not hard on lap desks. This one, though it is still intact, is developing problems after fewer than six months that make me rather sure it isn't long for this world, and considering it was $[...] for a bean-bag style lap desk, I would call this a major disappointment.
