Purchased from Walmart, this is a good little affordable computer! My previous laptop is a Toshiba l875d-s7332. The transition was easy.

The processor is quick being a Quad core, and with 8gb of RAM I won't have to worry about long loading times. The screen is nice, but the graphics is integrated so don't expect to play graphically rich games on "Very High" settings. I use the M731R for music downloads, web browsing, and light gaming. It handles older games easily, and SWTOR on low-medium graphic setting.

The color is definitely unique! I purchased mine in blue. It is aluminum so it feels built tough, albeit at the cost of a little heft. I like the heft however, it just feels like a tank. The keys feel almost as sturdy as a desktop keyboard, unlike some keyboards on laptops that are small, light and cheap. The speakers are a step up from my previous Toshiba, but though it sounds louder, almost hd, just more of a "full" sound, it also has a slight cavernous feel to the sound, as if it is coming to me through a chamber.

I already have Windows 8 so the adjustment was quite smooth, and I recommend anyone new Windows 8 to treat it like a tablet. What I did was go online and download Classic Shell, which gave me back that classic Windows feel of an XP or 7 desktop, though edge swipes on the track pad can bring me back to that tablet-like screen which I don't like. It came with eBay and Amazon apps. Personally I would rather use Internet Explorer for either, but the world is swinging toward apps. It is also loaded with McAfee anti-virus software, which will be replaced.

If I had to, I would purchase it again. The price and its overall value are excellent.

Love this computer but its cheaper at walmart.com and you can return it to any Wal-Mart only bad thing is they don't have it in blue yet. Good gaming computer I use it for World of Warcraft.

Wal-Mart price is $529-$543 (which doesn't include my 10% discount)
Amazon price was $600 with $9 shipping then went up to $609 with free shipping (nice try amazon you are not tricking us).

For the price it's excellent value.
Not a fan of the keyboard. Don't like the feel however as I plan to use it as a desktop with an external keyboard this is not an issue.
Note the keyboard is not backlit but for this price you can't expect it to be.
It is not really a laptop as it is way too big to carry around. We have purchased it as a desktop replacement with a screen.
17.3" Display is bright and easy on the eyes. I have heard complaints re this but we are very happy with the quality. Also love the non glossy screen which I prefer instead one that shows my own reflection.
Seems to run everything we have thrown at it so far and its quicker than expected.
All around for the price you can't go wrong.
The only bitch I have is it came with an american plug instead of an Australian one. Seeing as it's purchased on the international site I expected either an adapter plug or a compatible cable to come with it like all my other purchases.
This is only a minor niggle as I did have an adapter handy......but they should send the correct cables for the country it is going to.

Hardware great, software is full of ads

This is a great little machine, but once we registered with Dell the computer itself was so loaded down with advertisements that kept coming to our email and coming across the screen that we stripped the computer of all of the software and installed a different version of windows. The hard ware is excellent as well as the case, but the software spoils a good thing. We ordered three of these and are using them after we paid to have all of the junk that was on them taken off, We would have ordered three more but we chose to get something else that didn't have all of the advertisements embedded in them.

It fits my purpose

Even with its quirks, I like the computer. The laptop has a huge screen and stores lots of images, so basically it fits my purpose. Sometimes it does little weird things like occasional crashes (like most Windows based products). Even with the huge hard drive, you still have to remove large files (since it seems that file sizes get bigger and bigger). The audio is just ok, but less than 5% of my computer use is for music. So far, it seems to handle much of my Win 7 software, so I was relieved about that. One thing that kinda drove me crazy was the huge amount of software loaded on the computer (some of it buggy), which I don't use. Even though Win 8.1 is on the computer, I still use my laptop more like a Win 7 and rarely use those fancy apps that are loaded. Would have been nice if Dell/Microsoft had included a small manual summarizing what the software does. Outside of that, it suits my purpose.
