A Better Mousepad

Many people have never seen or heard of an aluminum mousepad. They seem to have been developed for the gaming industry but now are moving into mainstream. The traditional mousepad is made from a combination of fabric & rubber. Eventually the fabric tears or wears out, it gets dirty from your hands oils, and stretches from the motion of the mouse continuously moving over it. They also don't look great in the workplace.
When it comes to the aluminum mousepad and this particular one by Jelly Comb, you get a solid mousepad with a rubber bottom that won't slide or damage the surface it is placed on. The edges are rounded to prevent sharp edge injuries. The finish is sandblasted so that there are no raised pieces and ensure the entire pad is smooth. Your mouse will glide and track perfectly for game play or traditional computer usage. It has a beautiful look to it , that is easy to clean and will not wear out.
After using this for a little while you will decide as I did that one is needed for every computer in your possession.

The Jelly Comb Gaming Mouse Pad, as the name suggests, is a dedicated gaming mouse pad, but can also be used for casual users. It measures at 9.7” x 8 x 0.8” inches, which I originally thought as a rather “large” mouse pad, but realized this is a standardized size.

While the mouse pad is $14.99, it’ll probably be the last mouse pad you’ll buy. The mouse pad is made of very smooth aluminum, with a rubberized base -- a great grip that avoids any slippage. The most damage you’ll possibly see from the mouse pad is scratches, but I doubt anything beyond that.

I’ve been using the mouse pad for the last two days, even using it on this review. You can definitely tell the difference in performance between this and fabric mouse pads, or even no mouse pad at all.

▶ Final Thoughts
It’s beautiful, durable, and probably the last mouse pad you’ll ever buy. I really can’t find any issues with it.

Very sleek, modern looking mouse pad. Tad bit pricey, but worth it.

I literally just received this mouse pad about 2 hours ago, so in terms of long-term usage/overall quality I won't be able to comment on at the moment, but in terms of first impression this mouse pad is exactly the same as the image that is displayed. Its sleek and the silver/metallic design compliments the trimming on my late 2012 27 inch iMac, so it looks awesome and very modern.

So, this mouse pad is actually the same as Satechi Aluminum Mouse Pad (which sells for $9.99 and includes free shipping). The reason why I went with this one is because there is no logo on the bottom right hand corner, unlike the Satechi one. I justified paying more so I could have a clean, logo-less look on the mouse pad. So if you think $17.98 (including shipping) is a bit overpriced for a mouse pad, I do agree, but if you don't want to compromise a sleek, simple look without the logo then go with this one.

If you're wondering why I didn't give this a full 5 out of 5 stars, the reason why I needed to nick a star off is because when gliding my Apple Magic Mouse across the surface it makes a relatively loud scraping noise. It doesn't sound smooth or quiet at all. I'm not sure if the scraping will cause scratch marks to the mouse pad or scrape up the bottom of mouse, so I will monitor and update my review as needed. But due to that I unfortunately had to deduct a star. I can't comment on whether or not another brand or type of mouse wouldn't make noise either, but overall this is a very pretty looking mouse pad, albeit expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Sleek and minimalistic design. Has a great texture and is aesthetically pleasing. Smooth for the mouse and I'd say it works both for gaming and for casual purposes. Definitely something I would recommend for anyone looking for a solid and affordable mouse pad.

I've been using the Jelly Comb silver aluminum mouse pad for a few days now and so far I'm loving it. I love the sleek and modern look. The smooth sandblasted surface has s soft matte satin sheen that is contrasted beautifully by a shiny machined metal beveled edge. My mouse, (a Logitech Performance MX with "Darkfield" technology) works just fine on this mouse pad. I do feel like I notice just a tiny bit of increased drag or resistance over my prior mouse pad. but it's probably because it was worn down and smooth due to repeated use and abuse. The prior pad is an Allsop mouse pad that is now curling, starting to get worn through and dirty due to all the use. None of those issues are possible with an aluminum mouse pad, which is what makes them so great!

The difference I feel with this pad versus my old fabric pad is VERY minor. Due to the nature of my work I'm routinely at the computer anywhere from 10 to 18 hours a day so I'm more sensitive to to tiny changes. I doubt the normal or typical user would notice a difference and I'm fairly certain this is more to do with the nature of the mouse I'm using.

All that being said, my mouse still works perfectly fine with this. It tracks well and I don't notice any skipping etc. I love the fact that it doesn't slide around my desk thanks to the rubber backing. The surface is so easy to clean which makes this even more awesome. No worries about spills, germs etc. because you can simply wipe this clean when needed!

PROS:
