While at first glance, it may be in your best interest to shop around. Know that when you purchase RAM from Komputerbay, you're getting Grade-A brand name computer memory. Cheap computer memory, while possibly being compatible, can cause system crashes, error codes in your computer, and even damage to your motherboard! Other sellers may offer you similar looking products for a few cents or a dollar less, but here's the scoop on why: they sell cheap-grade memory and they don't test the modules before shipping! This ends up costing you time and money. Trust when you buy from Komputerbay, you are getting top of the line product from a top of the line company.
We test every module before it leaves the building, and back all of our purchases up with a LIFETIME WARRANTY!

Komputerbay's strategy is simple - we have eliminated all the distributors/brokers/agent/etc so as to bring the goods directly from the manufacturer to the end user. By doing so - ours costs go down which in turn brings the selling price down. As far as the warranty is concerned- it's even simpler - the warranty is being provided by the manufacturer who in this situation also happens to be the seller. No more looking for manufacturer's contact information anymore!

The RAM arrived on the estimated date and has improved the performance of my iMac 20" 2008 model. I now have 6 GB of RAM in the computer (above what Apple says is supported.) The reason I removed a star from my rating is that the label on the chip looked like it was created by in MS PrintShop Deluxe. I was a bit nervous pulling out my Crucial memory stick and putting this one in. All is working well so far, though. I'll update my review if I run into problems.

Update: Aug 26, 2012
RAM is still running perfectly. Updated my review to 5 stars.

To everyone who ever feared removing the screws from the back of your laptop relax. This upgrade is about the easiest thing you can do to improve your laptop's performance.

The product arrived in one of those bubble wrap envelopes through regular postal service. I didn't pay for the extra fast delivery because I wasn't in a big hurry. To install the memory all I had to do was disconnect my laptop (a dell 1555), remove the battery, remove three small screws from the back of my laptop and remove the old memory by gently pulling the springs that secured the memory in the socket and popping them out. Next I opened the envelope, found the memory in a small plastic case that easily opened with my fingers, oriented the first memory card to insert in the first slot and let it pop into place. I repeated the process with the second memory card, replaced the cover, inserted the screws, reinstalled the battery, plugged in the power supply and turned it on.

The bios immediately recognized the new memory and adjusted itself accordingly. Honestly it took longer to write this than it did to replace the memory in my laptop. I used the old memory from my dell to upgrade an older HP pavillion from 1gb to 4gb. Now that's what I call recycling. Oh yeah I pitched the two 512mb memory cards from the dell in the trash.

If this wasn't easy enough there are plenty of how to videos on Ehow and youtube to walk you through this simple yet valuable upgrade.

Now for the good news. My system is running faster and handles web surfing and computations even faster. I am pleased with my decision to take my upgrade into my own hands and recommend that others use the maximum RAM their systems will allow.

I must give 5 stars here due to being the best price, arriving quickly, well packaged and both modules actually work.
Unfortunately, I didn't bother to do my homework on and it turns out my Early 2008 iMac does not support 8GB of RAM. Even though Apple says it will only accept 1 or 2 GB modules, the 4GB module does work as long as there is only 1 installed.
iMac owners check this page to find what yours supports: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT3011.
There is a link on that page to help you identify your model.

UPDATE: turns out the Early 2008 model will support 6GB as long as the 2GB and 4GB modules "match", I'm guessing the speed is what has to match. I left in a PC2-6400 2GB that was already in there from a previous upgrade and put in one of the Komputerbay PC2-6400 4GB modules and it now reports 6GB total memory.

Been using this RAM for a year now. It works.

Pro: Does what it's supposed to.

Con: Doesn't have magical powers.

I purchased 2 of these memory modules for an iMac. One was bad, and Amazon gave me a credit for one but could not replace it. So now I have half the memory I wanted and have to purchase another.

I purchased this 8GB memory kit to upgrade the RAM in my iMac to better run a virtual PC using Parallels. The product shipped quickly and securely in a padded package via USPS. Installation was a snap on the iMac and I doubled my total memory in just a few minutes. The impact on processing, both on the Mac side and the virtual PC, has been outstanding. The new memory has performed flawlessly and I've experienced no issues whatsoever with the iMac after the upgrade.

In summary, Komputerbay offered an excellent price on the upgrade and provided a solid product with fast, secure shipping.

Once installed, my laptop gave me 2 beeps, Dell's way of saying, "No memory." Tried each of the two strips separately: 2 beeps on each one. These were brand new, right out of the high-security packaging (no joke). I re-packaged these, sent them back, and paid a little extra for memory from a reputable supplier whose product *worked* right out of the package.

Save yourself some time: spend a little extra, get the good stuff to begin with.

I ordered the Komputerbay 8 GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 for a laptop for $135. It was the best priced 8 GB kit and had mixed but OK ratings overall. Not long after I installed them I got a blue screen (Win7 64 bit OS). I did memory checks with both native Win7 application and memtest86 and got errors.
At this point I had no time to make another return as I needed laptop following week so went with a more well known company (at least to me). I decided on ordering the Patriot Signature 8 GB (2 x 4GB) PC2-6400 DDR2-800 (PSD28G800SK) for $145.99. No errors after extended testing. The return of the Komputerbay memory was painless.
