Gets the job done

Pros
- Very lightweight
- I love the design on the top, makes it easier to cool off your laptop
- Silent as advertised (at least if you take good care of it)
- The pad's USB cable actually has its own USB port, so you can charge and sync your phone AND cool your laptop at the same time, even if your laptop only has 1 USB port

Cons
- LED lights can't be turned off
- Plastic material on the bottom is bendable (so if you're carrying the cooling pad while it's on, you can bend the plastic enough for it to forcefully stop the fans and potentially affect the noise level of the fans), fans are a bit fragile
- Doesn't grip onto laptop or hold it in place
- The silence of the fans comes at the cost of fan speed

I needed a cooling pad that was quiet and effective without the high price, so I got this. The first day I got it, I was very impressed to notice that the fans were inaudible while they were on. That was, until I picked the fan up and noticed the plastic on the bottom was bendable, which caused the fan to forcefully stop. After that, the fans stopped being silent and made a noise that wasn't loud by any means, but was audible (tip: carry the cooling pad by the sides and not the bottom). I kept using it however, because it would at least give my laptop fan less work to cool off. It was an okay product; it wasn't powerful at all, but it was tolerable enough, and I got what I paid for.

About a month later, I started getting problems with the USB cable. When I would plug it in my laptop, it wouldn't charge unless you started wiggling with it a little (like when your charging cable wears out, and you need to bend it to find the right spot for it to work).Read more ›

Well worth the money

finally! something that works. I had been using a fabric cooling pad, and noticed that was getting hot. I always buy HP laptops and they are notorious for overheating, the last one I had had the fan replaced twice. I have used this for a day and I feel hardly any heat. Excellent product, money well spent.

This is what I needed

This has been so handy, I am so glad I have this cooling pad by Kootek. It has gotten warm in our house already with no AC & hot temps, so I was worried about my laptop getting to hot. So the cooling pad arrived I took it out of the box, put it under my laptop, plugged in the USB & the lights came on. I swear I thought the fans were not on because there was no noise. So I slid the laptop over & for sure the fans were on & it was so silent. I could feel the air movement & the blue lights look so great. My laptop fits on it perfectly & it is running so much better already. It does drain the battery a little faster but that is a trade off I expected. Great quality & a needed item. I received this product in exchange for providing an unbiased review.

Good deal for the price

Lightweight. Simple. Works well. The only thing about this fan is that the laptop slides off of the fan base because the base has a hard plastic shiny surface. I will get some rubber sticky grips for the bottom of my laptop. Other than that, the fan is quiet so you don't even know it's on. Serves the purpose.

***PROS***
- Very lightweight
- Very quiet
- I like that it plugs in via a USB cord and not a wall outlet because then I can use it while my computer is unplugged, making it as portable as my own computer.
- The USB cord has another port on the other end so this does not block access to a USB outlet on your computer.

***CONS***
- My 15'' Macbook pro is just slightly wider than the fan itself, so it hangs over the sides about a centimeter on each side.
- Because my laptop is completely smooth on the bottom and this cooling pad does not have any rubber sort of stoppers at the bottom edge to prevent my laptop from slipping down the front it tends to slip down if I have the back lift tripod feature lifting the back of the cooling pad up at an angle. So it is easier to keep it flat until I figure out what I can put on the front edge of the cooling pad to keep my computer from slipping.

For the price, this is definitely a great cooling pad.

Overall, a good pad

I work a lot on my laptop and haven't found a cooling pad that worked and that I liked. Kootek Laptop Cooling fan did work really well at keeping my laptop cool. I liked that it had small feet on it. This way I can sit in bed and work without worrying that the covers are hindering the cooling pad from working. It was fairly quiet unlike others I have tried. While it worked while I was sitting still, I found I was unable to carry it without it bending slightly. I would much prefer the materials to be thicker so that it is tougher. The lights were cool and gave the room a neat glow, however; I wish that I could have turned the lights off. They did bother my husband who was trying to sleep while I worked. For an inexpensive cooling pad, I think this is a pretty good choice. With a few tweaks, this could be an amazing product.
