Everything is good. However, it gave me scare at first. Turned out to be an issue with the laptop. About a week after installation, I noticed that it was not charging properly. It was powering the laptop just fine when the charger was NOT plugged in, but it was not charging up when the charger WAS plugged in.

So I found the battery box and the instructions that came with the battery. There was a reference to needing to update the bios on some older laptops. Fortunately, Dell makes this easy. I logged onto my Dell account, found the computer among my registered devices, located the relevant bios upgrade file, downloaded it, and installed it.

Now, if you are not a geek, get a friend who is to help with this. It is a rather important upgrade process to make sure you get right. For instance, when I first attempted to upgrade, the battery was at 10% charge. The problem is that the Laptop will not load a bios upgrade with only 10% charge on the battery. Seemed like a catch-22 moment.

I found out that I could charge the battery by powering down the computer completely, unplugging the charger, waiting several seconds (10? 15?), and then plugging it back in. The charging light would come on and charge the battery as long as the computer was not powered up and running. I gave it about 30 minutes to charge up and then powered it up to find the battery had charged to about 60% or so. I proceeded to update the bios and the problem went away completely. Everything seems to work just fine. Seems to hold a charge pretty well, though I have not actually measured it. Previous battery would only keep it running for 10 minutes or less. So all is well.

FYI it does have a "hump" to it that actually raises our laptop off of the surface it's on, which I actually really like for ventilation and overheating reasons. But I didn't see anything about that when I ordered it - pleasant surprise! Saved a lot of money buying this one over a factory new one from Dell. Hopefully it keeps working like it has been!

Love the extra time and the price is great. Only problem I have is that the Dell Inspiron N7110 sometimes doesn't recognize the battery and won't charge. If I take the battery out for 30 seconds or so and put it back in, it charges just fine.
