It's a lap desk.

This lap desk sits firmly on the lap of the user. It is a sparkly purple color. My 15" MacBook Pro sits on top of it with no extra room for a mouse or trackpad, but I don't use those with a laptop, so that's fine. There is a small raised lip towards the front, which helps to keep the computer from sliding towards the user if the angle of your lap moves as you are sitting. Children may also use its smooth top surface for coloring with paper and crayons, or if they choose, markers. Pencils and pens are probably also very effectively utilized on this surface. The color-coordinated, plush bottom surface is filled with what I would guess to be small styrofoam pellets. Heat generated by the laptop computer is not felt through the lap desk, thus keeping the top of your lap cool. It's a lap desk.

Almost perfect

For most laptops, this is the perfect accessory for when you want to sit with your laptop on your lap. Sturdy, comfortable, and the black "pencil rest" at the front will help to hold your machine in place. For the Retina Macbook Pro, this lip is just a little bit too short. It will mostly hold the machine, but due to the machine's shape, it doesn't hold quite as well as I would like. Still, this is the best solution I have found, and the price is great. Two family members have tried it, and now they each have their own.

This is an excellent High quality product! It does it's job well and it is well made. Be sure to look at the size of your laptop before buying it to make sure u get the right size. It is true to size. It is excellent for my MacBook Pro and a great desk for writing in front of the TV and also for using bed to watch a movie on my iPad. It is strong and durable and the handle on it makes it great to carry. I will buy this again for gifts.

Great lap desks for kids.

These are great - I just got three in pink, purple and blue for my three kids for back to school. They are six (twins) and three and they fight whenever it is time to do school work, so now I can spread them out while they are working on lessons, and don't have to worry about where there is a desk/ table. These are a HUGE improvement over the one I have, which has a formica/laminate surface which makes little bumps when I write - these have a smooth (and sparkly!) surface. The kids love them and are already using them with my laptop, books, and pencil and paper, only an hour after opening. Will post an update if they don't hold up, but they seem very well made. Do note the dimensions before you buy - this purple one is smaller than the pink and blue ones I bought, with a different series number. (They look the same otherwise and I thought they were different numbers only due to color.)

Comfortable and well-made

This lapdesk fits my 13.3" Macbook just right. It is solidly built and will surely last a long time. The color on top is a sparkly purple, more on the reddish/pinkish purple side than bluish. The bar across the bottom doesn't always hold the computer in place -- sometimes it slides down, but as long as you keep the lapdesk relatively level, it's not a problem. The lapdesk is very lightweight and has a convenient carrying handle. I really love the fabric on the underside -- it's kind of a mesh fabric (like athletic clothing) with a nice soft feel. It's more pinkish than shown in the product description picture (see photo included). The padding amount is just right -- soft enough to be comfortable and firm enough to feel solid on your lap. Keeps your lap nice and cool. Overall great purchase!
