The Laptop Buddy is truly designed to be your laptop's new best friend, constantly striving to improve the design and components with each new model produced. I ordered the laptop buddy so that I could stop burning my thighs when I sit with the laptop away from my desk. It definitely does that. No problem. I have a larger laptop so I am unable to use the cup and pen holder but that's not too big of a deal. The problem is that the heat from the laptop is already bubbling the surface of the laptop buddy. I don't know what's underneath the thin coating but I'm sure it won't be long before I find out. It started to bubble after just 1 hour of use. Other than that, it does exactly what I needed it to do.

This would be best with a netbook or a very small laptop. I made the mistake of not reading the dimensions before purchasing it. That being said, it still works well and I will use it, I just wish it was a little bigger. Also, the plastic kind of melted under the heat of my laptop.

Too small for a small computer!

I ordered this lap desk because I thought it would be big enough to accommodate my 13.3" MacBook Pro. NOPE! My MBP covers the cup holder, rendering it useless. It also arrived dirty looking and the quality is very poor. There are signs of over gluing around the pencil holder.

Returning immediately.

Nice for the price!

I actually wanted another food tray with bean bag bottom, but they were all cheap looking and too pricey for the quality. I will put a no-skid shelf liner on this and it will do for munching or remove it for writing. There's a zipper for the beanbag inside this one, so something else could be used inside, if a person wants to replace that...or, a tablet/Kindle could be inserted...pen/pencil bag, etc. It was a "make-do" thing I bought because I couldn't find one with a tray (the one I have, I purchased in the toy section of a dept store, for kids travel) But, this will be very handy for keeping by my couch, to pay my bills, read, etc. The neutral gray color material should be ez to keep presentable looking, I think. It seems pretty sturdy, & it has a handle that's double sewn, which I don't think was mentioned & I don't see it pictured. It's also big enuff for using a laptop computer...take to park & draw...turn it over and lay head on it for a nap ;) I don't think you'll find anything better, for the price, certainly.

Not Bad, But

It's an all right lap desk. Fits my tablet perfectly, but tends to get a bit awkward with my laptop, having to keep it left because of the cupholder. Also the holder is fine though it doesn't fit curvy glasses and large cups. You can feel its a bit cheap-ish but for $10 and all the features its not bad. The beans on the bottom are annoying at times, but I believe it has a zipper that you can open up and possibly replace the cushioning.

Poor Quality & Design For This Price Point

This is a poor product for its price.

To begin with, I cannot place my 13-inch MacBook on the "Laptop Buddy" without it jutting over the pen and cup holders. (See photos.) The holders have a plastic molding that elevates slightly above the surface level of the tray, causing my laptop to rest unevenly and occasionally jiggle when I'm typing. At a bare minimum, a laptop cushion pad/tray should provide a level surface for an average-size laptop. Either make the tray bigger to accommodate the pen and cup holder, or get rid of them altogether.

The cushioning underneath the hard plastic tray is made up of a pouch of styrofoam pellets that rests inside of a fleece-like fabric liner. For reasons that elude me, the liner can be partially unzipped to remove the pouch of pellets. It would be great if you could completely unzip the liner from the tray so you could wash it from time to time -- like any fabric, it gets dirty after a while. But you can't remove the liner to wash it. For some reason, only the pouch of pellets can be removed. (Maybe it's so you can remove some of the pellets to reduce the amount of cushioning...?) What's worse, the fabric is poor quality. After a year of use, it's already tearing around the zipper edge (see photo).

If this product were $10-15, I would chalk it up to "Hey, look, you get what you pay for." But the Laptop Buddy costs more than $30. At that price point, the poor design and quality is unacceptable.

I Love My Laptop Buddy!

I use my laptop sitting in bed and was so uncomfortable before. Now that I have my new Laptop Buddy, I got the blue one which is a beautiful color, it is so comfortable! It is so much easier to type! The only tiny imperfection is my laptop covers the drink holder. So I wish it didn't have the drink holder. My laptop still has plenty of room to sit on the Laptop Buddy with room on all four sides and I can still use the pen holder which is nice. The bean bag cushion is great because you can adjust the angle to fit your needs and it is very comfortable sitting on your legs. I love my new Laptop Buddy!

Great product and will work for my needs. A little on the small side, but great for an average size laptop. If you have a larger model, definately look for larger area space.
