Great product. I took my 17in Alienware to Afghanistan in it and didn't have a problem with it. The case was in my Stryker when we had a roll over and my laptop was fine. With stood a year of dust, dirt, and high temps without issue. I used it as a stool at times and never scratched my laptop. There ARE issues though on the civilian side. The case weighs 11 lbs or so, then you have to add the weight of whatever you put in it, my laptop weighs 13 lbs, so you can see it's heavy. Next, it's pretty much too big to carry on a plane, it doesn't fit in most over head bins and it does not fit well under the seats in front on you. I ended up putting mine on the floor and then resting my feet ontop of it. Realise the deminsions and the weight. Short of that mine survived an IED blast so I think you'll be safe.

This case Fits a 17" monitor. Since I have a 15inch I have room for a spare battery, travel mouse and small periferals. Secure and crushproof. I can stand my 200lb self on the lid and it only bows 1/4 of an inch. Haven't had the guts to try it with a two tonne truck......

My ONLY gripe, and the reason I bought a slightly less pretty case {from the same company} is that in one dimension it won't make all airline travel space restrictions.

Accept no substitutes. Or "How much is YOUR data worth?"

The Pelican case was a great fit for my 17" MacBook Pro. I modified the foam to include an outer layer of memory foam to help buffer the asymmetrical configuration (to make space for the power supply) and due to the fact the depth of the case required extra padding for the bottom of the computer - as the configurable pick-n-pluck foam that comes with the case is quite thick and was not cut at half depth to accommodate thinner computers. Basically a computer like the MacBook Pro is too thin for such a thick pick-n-pluck block of foam and the computer would otherwise flop around in the square opening. The thick block of pick-n-pluck foam is likely perfect for a desktop replacement PC sized computer. Ultimately, the "reconfigured" Jane Fonda memory foam yoga mat worked great. Finally, something related to Jane Fonda actually has a use.

Although it was a little bigger than I realized, it worked out perfect for me as I could also place other accessaries such as a camera and charger in the case. I'm in the military and when I go on a deployment I need a case that can be packed and tossed at a moments notice. The Pelican laptop case is nothing but proven durability.

I bought this case to protect my new Toshiba 17 inch laptop. The case is extremely rugged and my laptop fits perfectly. The case came with the pick and pluck foam but instead of defining a custom shape I found that I had to remove the maximum amount in order to fit the huge power cable that my laptop utilizes. I was torn between this model and the one that has the organizer in the lid and am glad I chose this one. I don't think my power supply would have fit if I chose the fancier of the two. The foam in the lid is extremely forgiving when it comes to adding a slightly oversized item. I was happy to find that this came with a shoulder strap inside the case. None of the other reviews mentioned if it did or not and the product description didn't clarify it one way or the other. We use pelican products at work so I knew they were something that could be relied on to protect electronics. Of note - I ordered this through the "Optics" reseller and had the product in 6 days. If I had ordered it directly from their site I would have saved on the shipping costs.

This is my 4th pelican case. I have the i1010 for my Ipod, the 1150 for my video camera and the 1650 which has carried everything from clothes to medical equipment/supplies to weapons and ammunition. All three protected their contents flawlessly for a year in Iraq and even longer at home. My most recent Pelican case, the 1495 is for my Lenovo Thinkpad T61 and related items for future deployments to Afghanistan etc. I am currently using it for transport while I'm stateside. I've had my stuff thrown off too many Blackhawks to take a chance with my pc. Pelican cases tend to be a bit bulky, heavy and expensive, but nothing can compare to their ruggedness and protection from all kinds of austere environments and the elements. The pick and pluck foam inside makes for a custom, snug cushioned fit for any item. No substitute for a pelican. My first and last choice for protecting my valuables while traveling.

Barely fits the Asus G751jt laptop. It's a really tight fit. I had to cute a little of the foam that's not pluckable. That laptop has a round back, so the back middle sticks out a little more than where the vents are. The plucking part was very easy, Gives you so many choices. But I only had space for the laptop. The foam comes out with the laptop when i take out the laptop from the case. The vents are on the back of the laptop and i'm afraid the material of the foam will rub off and get particles into the vent, so I rap this laptop in the white fabric that came with the laptop. Everything else is perfect, sturdy, the latches are awesome, and it's easy to change the code. Make sure you to read the instructions on changing the code before you accidentley change the code and not know the number.
