Great for hard use

Purchased this product thinking I could use it on my laptop instead of needing an inverter. Used it about six times. Transformer got very hot, and it croaked. Got an e-mail right away from Amazon saying that they will replace faulty item. This is why I shop at Amazon. Nobody beats their customer service.

Well made device

Like reviewers before me noted, this is a well made device. I am very pleased with it. It is of heavy, robust construction with ample strain relief on the plugs. Power connector inserted into my Presario CQ56 good and snug. Auto connector is of heavy, robust construction, with a good spring on the center pin. ( I have experienced lousy auto connectors in the past which were a royal pain with their intermittent connections. This is not one of them. )

Love it!

I hope this product holds up well. Although I'm sure I'll be giving it quite a workout, I haven't used it that much yet, but I already love it! After nearly a $100 repair bill to repair the burned up power port in my car, I went on a quest for a more efficient way to provide DC power to my laptop(s). It's rather inefficient to do it by converting DC to AC (by inverter) and then back to DC again. And the increased power demand required to do that was how I burned up the power port (that and rather stupid power port design on the part of the car (manufacturer), but we won't get into that here). I think this product will fix all of that through DC to DC (direct conversion) efficiencies, and I'm delighted!

Update: I have used these at great length now, and they have held up quite well, with one exception. If you get the polarity of the (DC) power reversed they are immediately dead. Apparently there is no protection in them at all for this. But, I have used and used and used these, and other than that, they're still going. I still love it and think it well worth the purchase price.

Works perfectly for my HP Elitebook 8540w

This charger works great. The HP rating for my laptop (as configured with four core processor and high end graphics) "recommends" a 120 Watt charger, but this one does the job. Charging with the laptop battery nearly dead and the laptop turned OFF takes a little over an hour. I've also used it for short periods with the laptop ON and the battery does charge, but not very fast -- depends on how heavily the laptop is being used. Please note that other configurations with two core processor or less "hungry" graphics would do better than mine while running.

The charger does get quite warm when used for over an hour, but not to the point of being unsafe.

Overall I'm very satisfied with the charger.

When I use this Pwr+ charger there is NO background hiss or noise

When I use this Pwr+ charger there is no background hiss or noise at all from the speakers. I was using a 100 watt power inverter and the 110 volt power pack that came with my laptop. When I did this I got a terrible background hiss from the engine of my big truck (Freightliner) coming through the speakers. This Pwr+ charger is definitely the best option.
