Great replacement keyboard

We had to replace my husband's keyboard on his Gateway due to an unfortunate liquid incident. We were very pleased to find a replacement keyboard on Amazon at a good price. Installation was easy for him, though you do need to make sure you get the clip in just right to make your computer recognize it. The only real issue was getting the old keyboard out without breaking the clip on the motherboard. Once you get it in place and lock everything down, it worked perfectly.

Fast and Perfect Fit

I have a Gateway NV78 802u and my eight key broke... I went on the Gateway website and they sent me to another dealer who wanted to sell the same thing I got for 60 bucks... Not only did I save about 40 bucks by buying it through these guys, but it also shipped in about 3 days and it was a perfect fit. Pretty much the package contains the keyboard and your ready to install it. Keep in mind though that if you don't know how to replace the keyboard on your laptop think twice before you DIY this. Oh, and I typed up this review with the keyboard I bought from them...

Great Price and Fast Shipping

This price was the best price I could find and ultimately I was persuaded to get it because all of the reviews were so good. I appreciate how fast the product shipped. Unfortunately I could not give it the 5 star review everyone else did due to issues with the fit of this keyboard into my Gateway NV54. The circuit board did not line up properly after multiple tries. Just looking at it compared to the original, it was not the same, so this is not really a universal-type keyboard for my particular computer. We had to get creative on the installation to get it lined up with the ports. In the end I had to sacrifice the mouse as well as all the touch sensitive "keys" over the keyboard. I usually use an external mouse so I was not too put out. And I have to use trial and error to know if the Caps are locked or not along with the volume and all those other little things up there. At the end of the day, I'd rather this than an external keyboard and it's less expensive than a new computer.

I honestly don't know if this works or not. I was a former bench tech at computer companies in the past, and have replaced laptop keyboards as well. My particular situation, the laptop was in a fire, and all the keys melted and popped off... I attempted to install this replacement one, and the internal ribbon connector broke because it was so brittle, so I don't have a good connection with it at all, as in it didn't work for my particular application. This is NOT the fault of the product. Otherwise it installed well, the instructions were complete and easy enough for most people who venture this deep to accomplish.

Since I wasn't able to really test it, and being a responsible, fair-minded individual, I can't give it a good or bad review.. and again, this is NOT the fault of the product.

I ordered this keyboard for my wife's laptop one year and two weeks ago. She's a touch-typist, so the worn off letters on the keys don't bother her that much, but i can't use it because i don't know which key is which. Plus, now several keys don't work at all. How this keyboard got so many 5 stars is beyond me. Between the poor keyboard and the power switch replacement, it's a wonder Gateway is still in business.

I ordered this on Friday and it arrived Monday!! Fit my Gateway NV54 perfectly. Had it up and running in about a minute. It was packaged adequately.

Slightly different from the original. The pipe symbol (|)and back slash key are in different places. One is next to the uppercase key causing me to reach a little farther for uppercase. Not much of a problem.
