Only one reason why I returned this computer and gave it 1 Star... Superfish! Absolutely appalled that Lenovo would put this intrusive software on their computers. They say it was to enhance the end users experience... then why did they not shout from the roof tops this added feature? Pretty clear that Lenovo is unscrupulous especially when you realize the issue with them and certificates that you thought was only between you and your chosen vendor... I guess Lenovo thought they should have special rights. I returned and bought an ASUS! Take a stand and let them know your privacy is yours and not theirs! So far no problem setting up a return through Amazon!

We understand that the Superfish software caused significant concern among our customers. For this, we would like to apologize. Please rest assured that any potential issues caused by Superfish have been eliminated. Tools are now available to remove Superfish software automatically. More information can be found here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product_security/superfish

Additionally, we have recently announced our vision for a cleaner, safer PC, which will end the inclusion of `adware' on future PCs. And we will also post information about ALL software we preload on our PCs that clearly explains what each application does. More information on that can be found here: http://news.lenovo.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=1934

For being an entry level business laptop, this a very nice laptop. I'm an accounting major and this suits all my needs. I really like the keyboard and the numerical keypad. Typing is almost noiseless and the fans are very quiet. I can work on homework in bed while my husband sleeps. Scrolling with the touch pad took a minute to figure out (two fingers in the middle moving up or down on the touch pad). Windows 8.1 does take some getting used to.
All around though, I really enjoy working on this laptop and is definitely worth the price.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad at work and it's terrific. This G50, not so much.

Honestly, the AMD A8 processor is a big part of the problem. The A8 is apparently a dog. Apps are slow to open, and operations take longer than my 4 year old PC... even with twice the ram (8gb). But the real annoyance that Lenovo owns completely is the unreliable keypad. I am CONSTANTLY going back to enter characters that did not register while typing. I essentially type like a caveman pounding away with two fingers and still the characters don't always register the first time. I've even had to pound a key a third time... I've had to re-key characters about a dozen times just to write this short review.

I'd never buy this model again and certainly won't consider another low-end Lenovo in the future.

Pros:
Fast start-up
Light weight
Great internal specs with 6GB RAM and 1TB HD
Computer doesn't overheat even if external vents are blocked
DVD/CD-ROM drive (writable)
Has webcam (low res)

Cons:
The track pad moves on its own and is a little twitchy and non-responsive at times. Terrible webcam resolution. The video resolution is so bad that you can't even have a clear Skype chat without looking blurry. The computer has a plastic body and doesn't feel sturdy at all. Oh and one last time....non-user friendly windows 8...3 letters. O-M-G.

This PC is a 64 bit system (not a 32 bit as some others have mentioned) It can be converted from Windows 8 to Windows 7 with a installation CD. And yes, it must be genuine Microsoft or it won't work.

My daughter's only complaints are:
1. The edges are a little sharp. She says it bothers the skin on her wrists.
2. The track pad doesn't always work properly. And she needs two hands to operate it. She had Asus laptop before and she didn't need to do that.
3. And of course, windows 8 really sucks when it comes to navigating and finding the control panels, the applications folder, etc. It looks like a 5-year old designed some of the interfaces. So ugly.

Junk. There are lots of choices for laptops. I chose this because I like the old IBM Thinkpad and I made the mistake of thinking this might be something like it. It's not. It's junk. Broken video card within a month. Broken wireless within two months. Blue screen of death 4 - 5 times EVERY DAY. Thought that will all this power and memory it would be quick. It's not. It takes forever to boot up and to make things even worse it uses the absolutely miserable Windows 8, probably the biggest abortion since Vista. Cursor locks up at least 5 - 10 times a day, requiring you to close the cover of the laptop then re-authenticate. The so-called "charms" bar is absolutely the stupidest, most miserable piece of code ever invented. It is nothing but constant misery. I could have bought an HP with Beats audio for much less money but I chose this piece of dreck instead. Never, ever again. Do NOT buy this garbage.
