My Gaming Background:
First I would like to say that I have been gaming for 20 years, and 15 years on PC. I have built many gaming systems for myself and others. This is the first laptop I have purchased. My desktop setup is as follows; 8 core AMD, 2x MSI 580 Lightnings in SLI, 32GB of ram, 500GB SSD and custom watercooling.

Laptop Review:

Screen:
I have read many reviews about this laptop, and everyone seems to focus on the negatives like the screen quality. I would just like to clear up a few things. I don't know if the touchscreen version comes with a better panel, or if I'm not as picky as others. When it comes to gaming I tend focus on frame rate and sharpness, not so much color reproduction. Not that the color reproduction is bad, I think it is just fine. Brightness isn't spectacular.

Speed:
The first few days of using the laptop it was slow to load most programs. However after a few days it is now much snappier and I don't have much problem with lag or anything. Gaming performance is good, I can play most games on high settings, and older games on Ultra without dropping below 30fps.

Battery:
Battery life is much better once I installed the newest NVIDIA drivers.

Keyboard/trackpad:
The keyboard is great, the lighting is awesome. Being red it is never too bright but it does light up a dark room at night.
The trackpad is nice but I do tend to brush against it while typing and that can get annoying.

Other:
The charging cable is awesome, it's very long and the plug for the laptop is very sturdy. The rectangular design is much better than the usual round type that feels like it is going to pop out or break off.

To all interested parties,
Here's my take after 3-weeks of use:
Pros: Light weight, decent battery life (4 hours), comfortable keyboard, competitively priced, includes external optical burner drive.
Cons:
-Screen: Why did they put a 15" screen into (what appears to be) a 17" chassis? The reason I bought a 15" was to ensure portability. But the LxW dimensions are the same as a 17". Had I noticed it before purchasing, I would've paid more for the 17" or picked a 15" with smaller LxW dimensions (I blame myself for not comparing dimensions more thoroughly before purchasing).
-Screen resolution: Many reviewers trashed this screen. I'm no gaming savant, but I wouldn't say it's a "dealbreaker". The fonts run grainy on certain apps, but games looked good to me.
-Keyboard: The good thing about the 17" chassis is is makes typing more comfortable. The only quirk I found was the numbers lock "unlocks" with every boot. Overall, it's comfortable (and I have very large hands).
-Touchpad: This was the only BIG problem I've had with this machine. The design is such where the movement sensors are included on BOTH the pad and the buttons (the buttons/pad appear as one flush piece). So if you don't click perfectly vertically, the pointer moves while clicking. This is VERY frustrating. I've toggled all the settings, but it hasn't helped. How did so many online reviews miss this?!?!
Overall: I wasn't expecting perfection. I just wanted something portable, with decent battery life, that I could use for take-home work and games. It passes on those counts. However, if I could do it again, I would've picked a 17" model with a different mousepad.

Instead of going in depth, I'll give you a list of pro's and con's and give you some numbers/thoughts to help you decide your purchase:

Pros:
- The keyboard is downright beautiful. Its great to type and game on. It has some surprising travel distance and a nice, clicky feel with some resistance. I love typing on this keyboard, and it surprises me when I use another laptop's keyboard. There is a full number pad which is great, and the keyboard layout is very nicely laid out. Also, the bright, vibrant red LED lights are a nice touch.
- The laptop is subjectively really good looking. The machine looks professional and classy, yet hints at the great power it houses. It's backlit keyboard can be turned off, set at medium or high settings, which is nice, and the laptop's brushed metal outside with a matte rubber inside makes it look and feel very nice. At the same time, you don't get that over-the-top game-y look with LED lights everywhere. You do get what you see in the pictures, and it catches many eyes with it.
- For a gaming laptop with this grade of components, its very slim and light. To give you some perspective, the laptop's body is about a playing cards deck high, and when the screen is shut, its about the size of two sharpie's or my pinky and 3rd finger. To add to that the body is curved, which looks nice and makes the laptop feel even thinner than it already is. Also, for a gaming laptop, it is rather light. I can pick it up in one hand and put it in my backpack easily and carry it around. Sure its no Mac Air, but it also houses a lot more potential.
- The laptop is rather cool and quiet. There is some heat buildup around the WASD key's, but no where near enough to bother me while gaming. The exhausts are properly laid out to insure the most efficient cooling.
