Just purchased this Lenovo for our 13 year old grandson. Everything seems to be working just fine. Boot-up went fine. WIndows 8.1 is a bit different from the WIndows 7 that I have on my computer, but seems to work fine. I had no difficulty in setting up the grandson's account with parental controls. We also loaded and updated Wizard for him. The computer comes loaded with other applications as others have noted. We will probably uninstall several later. We did load Google Chrome to use as the primary browser. Processor speed seems just fine. This laptop is lighter in weight than my Toshiba and should fit nicely in his backpack. My son, a graduate mechanical engineer, recommended the Lenovo with the AMD quad core processor. I have always been partial to Intel processors, but the AMD is working nicely. I think this Lenovo is a good value.

I just set this system up for my daughter. I had a big problem with Wi-Fi on the system I received (brand new). The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth factory installed drivers were incorrect. (At least if the wireless board contains Realtek chips -- mine did and the result was very, very slow wireless performance and frequent disconnects.) After a whole day searching I finally found the answer on the Lenovo forum. Follow the link below, drop down to the post by "neokenchi" dated 6-13-2015 and install the right software. (Also, the "remove Superfish" hints located in this thread are very important too!) I would give it less stars but I am too happy with the final results so Lenovo gets a free pass.

Out of the box the laptop rab pretty slow, but after installing some updates and getting rid of the malware bloat these Lenovos came with, removal tool is installed making it extremely easy to get rid of, it started working relatively snappy when compared to other PC's in this price range.
The PC is also pretty thin, albeit a bit "plasticy" feeling, and light making it easy to tote around. It also charges pretty fast, battery charges fully in about an hour or so.

Very nice out of the box, windows however comes with so much bloatware! I installed UBUNTU. this is my normal OS With a few tweaks it took to UBUNTU with no problems. The computer is fast, a little heavy but within reason, it has a cd/dvd w/r/ witch is rare. The price is fare. So far so good. Delivery was good, 2 days.

An otherwise perfectly good laptop for general internet use, and even light coding, is marred slightly by an off center touch pad and a *large* amount of bloatware.

The laptop I purchased did contain the Superphish malware, so be warned about that, but it also had two dozen other pieces of, to be frank, s***ty software. Took about an hour to remove it all, but its been great since then.

If you are comfortable with removing the stuff Lenovo was paid to cram on the drive, this is a great budget laptop for coding on the couch or watching Netflix.

We purchased this as a gift for my mother, it works great. Just remember to run the utility from Lenovo to remove the Superfish malware. It's a great deal, but you do have to put a little bit of work in.

The delivery came on time and the computer booted up quickly the second time I booted it(after the uninstalls). The keyboard does not bug me too much, but I have gradually gotten used to different set ups. It is quirky but still functional.
I attached a picture of the programs I had left after my uninstall spree and while I am sure I could uninstall even more I am leaving it here. It is enough for the computer to be fast but not so much as to have the demon lords raise up from the cyber netherworlds and take claim to my computer.
Windows 8.1 is weird, but you can upgrade to 10 for free or wait as I plan to do until Windows 10 has its stuff more together. When it is installing Windows 8.1 do the custom install because you can uncheck a lot of crap about how it is going to send info to windows for marketing purposes.
I had no problems with the wireless but I installed the other driver anyways.
I also installed firefox, chrome, and libreoffice(it is like microsoft office but free and faster).
The screen does not bug me. I took a color hue test and came up with in standard results. It is not like "OMG this screen is so clear I can practically see my future in these pixels!" it is just pleasant and for the price point great.
Sorry for rambling, but I hope this is useful!

Purchased this g50 Lenovo couple days ago, I am very impressed. I'm a DJ and needed a computer that could run all my software, this did it with ease. I use a 1 TB external hard drive for my music and the 3.0 USB port loads the music extremely fast the Lenovo made by IBM is a all around power house.
