Unreliable and spent weeks in service status limbo

Great specs on this laptop. But mine (model 59440654 with the 960M nvidia card) failed after only after 3 weeks. THREE WEEKS! It stopped charging and would not power on at all. I sent it in for repairs (at least Lenovo covered shipping and handling through FedEx). Now I keep checking the repair status and seeing "Your PC is currently on hold due to a service parts shortage. Please check back periodically for further updates".

It's up to you if you want to deal with this. I wish I hadn't. I'll update this review if the service status changes.

UPDATE: 9/21/2015 - It's been 11 days since I shipped it back. Repair status is still "on hold due to a service parts shortage".

UPDATE: 10/5/2105 - I received the laptop back on 9/29 (which is exactly 21 days after I shipped it). Seems to be working well so far. They wiped the hard-drive (no explanation. Why do this to fix a hardware issue?) Fortunately I did not lose any data but I had to re-download and install Win10 (and all my other apps/games of course).

super powerful laptop!

I recently got this Lenovo Y50 High Performance Gaming Laptop and it just a charm!

This laptop is super powerful at all for multitasking and productive work since it packs a beefy 4th Generation Intel Core i7-4700HQ Processor (2.40GHz 1600 MHz 6MB) and 16GB DDR3L SDRAM.

Compare to other laptops, I prefer the keyboard on the Lenovo, It's just the right feel and it has a nice lighting if you are going to use it in a poorly lit area.

With it's 8Gb SSD, It's able to boot up Windows 8 in a snap. The 1TGb will give you a plenty of room for storage.

The screen is also an absolute joy to watch videos on, no matter streaming or through a DVD. The Natural color preset in the control center is spot on in terms of color accuracy.

Reminds me of Turbo the snail

A light weight performance punch. Processing speed of 2.4 GHz from the i7 core is not too shabby. Allows for gaming as well as scientific work. You won't have to worry about lack of or updating the memory with 16 GB RAM. Want to store everything but the kitchen sink: you have the state of the art 1T Hard disk.The 8GB solid state paging virtual memory is just icing on the top, boosts the performance. It's a good thing it's 15.6 inch screen is non-wide, makes it easy to navigate and natural looking. You may struggle with lower (4 hrs) battery span so consider customizing the battery. The rest you won't regret.
