I really like it. It's pretty slick, and flies for what I use it for (Internet, office, iTunes, simple steam games). It's not gonna do great with high tech games, so you'll have to invest in something more for that. Windows 8.1 takes some time to install, but is really nice and comes with pokki (win start menu).

One note. Don't install the 17.0 Intel wireless driver. It slows everything down. I had to uninstall it and go back to 16.10 and now it's much faster.

Lenovo ThinkPads are definitely the best business laptops. When our employees travel, they prefer this model over any other model laptop that we have available. It's light, modern, and easy to carry. This E540 is a solid laptop.

I'm very pleased with the combination of price and performance.

Two things keep this from being a 5-star rating. One, the sound quality is not good. However, the really disappointing thing for me is the touchpad mouse keys. You need to get a wireless mouse if you plan to use the laptop for more than a few minutes at a time.

Amazing Laptop.. this is my 2nd. Lenovo Laptop.. i just bought it to replace my 1st one (Lenovo SL400)... it came with Windows 7 pro and it can be upgraded to Windows 8.1 pro... i just installed a 4GB RAM Card to expand the memory...

Very happy with this laptop, loads quickly, lots of great features for the price

I love this laptop. It was given to me as a gift from my husband who purchased it on Amazon. It's wider than my previous 14" laptop which always felt cramped. Webpages load quickly. I like having the touchpad, which has been a lifesaver when my mouse battery unexpectedly died in the middle of a project. Many of the functions are easier and more streamlined than on my previous computer. For example, in searching for a document, I only have to start typing in the name of the document and it quickly calls up a list of document names in the lower right hand corner of the screen with the most likely one on top; my other computer took forever to search, and a box with search results obliterated the page I was working on. Video stalling is a thing of the past. I keep discovering features I didn't even know this computer had, such as video recording.

My only complaint is that sometimes when I am typing, the text jumps to the wrong place on the page. My husband thinks this is because I accidentally brush against the touchpad, but I don't think so. It doesn't happen often. But it is something a friend had mentioned to me as being a problem with her Lenovo Thinkpad. Like I said, it is fairly infrequent.

I'm very happy with this laptop.

Great machine, great value. Feels like a much higher-end machine. Great build quality, performance, display, keyboard (except for the slightly funky Fn key in the wrong place). You will want to buy an external USB mouse. Otherwise, it's a steal.

I am dissapointed because of the poor microphone they put into this laptop. Voice quality on videocalls like Skype sound damped and poor, people complain all the time. I have tried different things but its still unacceptable. The rest works.

We like this laptop, but it's sound wouldn't work and it came with viruses on it. We had to hire someone to fix it for us do we could use it. It now works great!
