Great machine at a great price

Great machine at a great price. You can add more RAM at your leisure to improve performance. It will be cheaper to do that than to buy it with more RAM. And its only if you really are a power user that you will want more RAM. I like the fact that fingerprints don't show up so easily on the body. Its a really sleek machine.
I had to buy this machine because my previous laptop at only 18 months just capped out on me. Problem was that the main RAM is soldered onto the motherboard and the machine wont work if that fails. The repair techs tried all sorts of "work around" but nothing was successful. With this machine, the RAM chips are all independent and user replaceable so I know I wont have that problem again.
This laptop is called a business grade laptop so its quality and reliability should be a tad higher than the other laptops not so named.
Only have it a few days but am very satisfied and impressed.

make sure to upgrade your ram

the computer is kinda slow for an i5 and the 4gb of ram inside is some generic brand crap. had to replaced it with a crucial 8gb ram since it was slowing and freezing up during initial use. works fine afterward, most likely the cheap ram they put inside or because there is only 1 stick of ram while the other slot is empty. body is nice, design and keyboard are solid. doesn't have much or any bloatware,

Great Computer for the Price!!

Now honestly I'd give it a 4.5 but Amazon doesn't have that option, it isn't a perfect laptop but does have many positives. I have had this laptop for a week. I am changing from a 5 year old Dell (used as a college laptop) which had overheating problems for most of its life so I was looking for something that would have adequate specs for today and would have no heating issues. This is a great computer for the money. I would definitely recommend it. I am just using the computer for regular use such as internet searching, iTunes, and Office. There are a few flaws, as any cheap laptop will have but overall, and for the price (~$500), it is a bargain.
Pros:
-It is fast: 5th gen i5 processor, 7200 rpm HDD (most computers in this price range have a 5400)
-Runs cool so far (and from reviews I've seen there aren't too many problems with newer Lenovo's after their heat problems of a few years ago). One example, was running for 3 hours and the vent is putting out basically room temp air. It does have a vent on the side and some at the bottom so I'd assume it will remain pretty cool. It usually runs at around 40C during my average use, my max has been 55C which is a good low heat and an improvement over my other laptop (which hit 80C frequently). Vents do run pretty quiet as well.
-Number pad because it is a larger laptop, with nice solid keys which have nice spacing between them
-Nice screen, HD. Also has a webcam (which I haven't tried)
-Windows 7 (which is a great OS even if its old) and you could to upgrade to 10
-Speakers seem adequate, definitely just laptop grade but they are usable
-Finger print reader (although I haven't tried it yet)
-Software: doesn't have a ton of bloatware.Read more ›

This Thinkpad Edge is very nice. the design is clean and simple. it doesn't come with a lot of bloatware. Upon receiving the computer, I put in a crucial 500 gb ssd. reinstalled windown 7.

I mainly use for office task, Microsoft office, etc. Often with multiple excel and couple other programs opened at the same time. With SSD drive, it is so fast.

I would definitely recommend this computer to any professional.
