Before purchasing the computer I was very skeptical considering the other reviews on similar models have been less than stellar. However, some of that has been misinformation and/or just getting a bad product. Yet, after using the computer for about a week, so far so good.

The reasons I decided to go with this laptop instead of others:

1. Price. It was looking for a computer that offered affordability but also great performance. I use it mostly for excel, word, tax and web browsing so I didn't need anything too extravagant.
2. Extras. I compared many computers within the $350-500 price range and they also seemed pretty good. However, this one offered a touch screen and light up keyboard which is something I only see in the more expensive models.
3. The battery life is pretty good. It averages 4-5 hours, depending on your usage of course.
4. Pretty good performance. I found that the processor was more than enough for my needs and thus far, it has not let me down. I never have trouble opening or switching between applications.
5. Looks. It is a well-built, nice looking computer.
6. Sound. The computer speakers are pretty good.

The only thing that has let me down so far have been the Touch-pad. The touchpad seems a little quirky and doesn't react fluidly. For instance, if your scrolling on a page it can sometimes move too fast or too slow, however its feeling that day. Then again, the only laptops I have ever used that have a great touch-pad are the MacBook air and the Acer c720 Chromebook. However, that is not a big deal for me since I use a mouse 95% of the time

I just got this laptop as a early Christmas gift and have been playing with it for almost 2 days now. Here are my thoughts.

Build Quality: It's great! It feels well made and the materials feel nice to the touch. I suppose the screen could be a little more rigid but all and all I am impressed. 5 out of 5

Display: The screen is well backlit, no obvious dark areas and the image is crisp and clear. My only real complaint is that the viewing angle on this screen is small, almost too small. But looking at it from the right angle it is beautiful. 4.5 out of 5

Sound: I don't really use the laptop speakers much but my impression of them isn't bad. They are certainly good enough for watching netflix or listening to some music. I just prefer headphones. 5 out of 5

Keyboard: I love this keyboard. It is quiet, responsive to light key presses and it is backlit with 10key. I am not really sure what more you could ask for. 5 out of 5

Performance: This is a speedy laptop, surfing the web is quick and lag free. Opening programs seems to only be limited by the slow HDD. Replacing that ASAP with a SSD. Multitasking is easy and flows right into the next program without a hiccup. 5 out of 5

Gaming: If you are looking for a gaming laptop this is NOT the laptop for you. If you want to play Minecraft and maybe some older games like Bioshock, Fear 3, Half-Life 2 or Civilization IV (The few games I have tried) it will get the job done. I was pretty surprised actually. 4 out of 5 (I didn't expect any gaming)

Battery: This is the biggest disappointment of the laptop and should knock off half a star at least but it won't let me. Downloading and streaming really drain the battery fast and given those are the main things I do it really kinda sucks.

Superfish affected models listed below (this one is on the list) but the bigger problem is the private encryption key accompanying the superfish-signed Transport Layer Security root certificate appears to be the same for EVERY Lenovo machine. This key has been cracked and in a nutshell, hackers can own all your private encrypted website traffic. Test your browsers here https://filippo.io/Badfish/ to see if your computer is affected by superfish and several other SSL disabling products. If it is present, Microsoft has updated their Windows Defender software to remove all traces of superfish and the certificate so just run windows update followed by a full defender scan.

The below list of Affected Products is from the lenovo website

This laptop was offered to me as an "upgrade" because the retailer kept having issues with the HP Pavilion I wanted to buy claiming that Windows 10 wasn't working on new Pavilions. I later found out that this was false and that pavilions are most certainly compatible with Win10, but whatever. I needed a laptop for college immediately and did not have another 2 weeks to wait while the store failed to do a simple OS installation - twice. Anyway, I was given this laptop which I've now had for 2 months and it is crap. I can't believe the claims that Lenovo is the #1 manufacturer on the market when they have a 97% dissatisfaction rate with Consumer Affairs. Here's the run down of why it sucks.

- Low quality build materials. 2 months of sitting on my desk and the back panel of the screen is splitting on the left side. It isn't held together by anything other than a tiny few dabs of circuit glue and is basically just snapped together. The screen and back panel aren't even attached to each other, rather the back panel is attached tightly to the hinges on the bottom of the screen and are flush with the screen, however minor movement can cause them to pop apart and there is no possible way to make them stay closed again without repair. The laptop is literally falling apart just by sitting on my desk. I don't travel with this PC.
- Low processing power There's no overclocking possible as the processor will run sluggish upon approaching the 7.8 of the 8GBs of memory I have. Remember that having lots of RAM doesn't mean your PC will be automatically super powerful. The drivers aren't optimized and the laptop struggles to run any more than 2 heavy applications at a time and doesn't perform well running multiple threads.
- Low quality screen. Contrast is awful. Coloration isn't true.
