I'm a college student who wanted an ultrabook with 1080p display, thin, and can handle some steam gaming. This ultrabook came with a dedicated graphics card that can handle the games I play just fine (CS:GO, Dota 2). I'm the type of person who spends hours upon hours finding the perfect product for my wants and needs, I do not like dealing with returns/refunds because I want something that I know I'll love. This is definitely one of those things I love.

My personal pros/cons:
Pros:
1080p
Dedicated graphics card
Windows 8.1
Long battery life
Thin & light
Luxurious look/feel (comparable to a macbook pro)

Cons:
Touchscreen (I DO NOT LIKE GLOSSY!)
Bloatware
Webcam is awful
Wifi card has a bunch of issues
Dual core processor
Combo audio
Slow HDD

Other than that, this was everything I was looking for in a laptop.
First thing I did with this laptop was do a SSD swap with a clean Windows install. The bloatware lagged the hell out of the computer upon first start up. I highly recommend a SSD swap because the difference is night and day. While installing the windows 8.1 iso via USB, it automatically gets the key from the bios so you don't have to worry about getting the key. The webcam quality is something you'd find on a laptop 10 years ago.
The intel wifi card is known to have issues with many people, it can disconnect constantly and sometimes stay down for awhile. There are some simple work around tweaks that may fix it such as..
Disabling HT mode, transmit power highest, lowest roaming aggressiveness, rolling back the driver, wake on magic packet/pattern match both disabled.. these are a few tweaks you could try.
What fixed my problem was enabling packet coalescing.

I bought this Ultrabook from Best Buy a few weeks ago. After weeks of reading, looking and research, I finally decided to get this machine over the Asus Q550LF-BSI7T21 which was about $100 more with almost same specs. I chose this over the Asus for a few reasons. First, this laptop is a true Ultrabook. Much thinner and lighter than Asus. Second, the Asus has a DVD built in and I wanted a machine without it. Also this machine has a hybrid hard drive with 16gb dedicated for OS cache and a 1tb hard drive for everything else which the Asus lacks. All other specs are identical to the Asus. This machine has a very high quality metal build on both sides and an excellent 1080p touchscreen display. Some people have complained about the keyboard on the best buy reviews, but I have found nothing wrong with the soft backlit keyboard. I actually like the keyboard over the Asus because the Asus has white keys and the back light is not as visible in the dark as the black chicklet style keys. I have used this machine for about 3 weeks and I have to admit its one of the best laptops I have ever used. You never hear the fan and this machine never gets hot. Haswell core processor gives about 6 hours of non-stop heavy use. If you're looking for an Ultrabook at a budget price, you won't go wrong with this one. Last but not the least. Anyone looking for a touchscreen laptop, Please don't waste your money on a 1366 X 768 display. Spend an extra $150 and get a 1080p machine. The web pages load in one view and scrolling is minimum.

Absolutely fantastic laptop. I have had great luck with mine after owning it for 3 months. The battery is great, enough computing power for most peoples uses, and the touch is very responsive although I do not tend to use the touch screen very much. The construction of the casing was one of the biggest selling points for me and I am definitely impressed with it. The build quality is able to compete with a macbook. The only complaints I have with the laptop are, the keyboard is squishy unlike many other Lenovo laptops I have used, and the trackpad can be finicky when scrolling with it, also the battery is very impressive but does not meet the 10 hours that Lenovo claims which I honestly didn't expect. Overall very good product and would highly recommend.

DO NOT BUY! Idea Pad U530 touch 2 stars. The reason I give it a 2 is because it is a decent machine. But the hinges are CRAP. It is all over the internet. I am 17 days out of warranty and as so many other people my left hinge broke. I am lucky. I was able to catch it and my screen did not split. CUSTOMER NO SERVICE will let me pay a non refundable DIAGNOSIS fee. I have owned several lap tops, They have all lasted many years and the hard drive always broke. Never he case. So for a $1000. dollar year old computer. I am supposed to spend around 25% of original price. I will never buy another Lenovo and you should not either.

needed a new laptop after my 7 year old dell was finally not working and found this Lenovo. ive had it for about 6 months now and couldn't be happier. starts up and shuts down super quick. I use it for Skype and works great just over wifi. I do some light gaming and plays games my old dell wouldn't. touch screen works great but I don't use it a lot. movies look awesome and windows 8 took some time to get used of but after figuring it out and asking a few questions on the internet I finally have it figured out and kinda like it.i don't know how great battery life is since I usually have it plugged in.
